Have opportunity to purchase the attached Bronco My Uncle had since 1980.
Its is in rough shape. Thoughts opinions on should it be restored or scrapped. Whole floor section is rotted away along with some floor support. Right rear is Wrecked. Need engine rebuilt. 302, has 3speed on column. fORD 9inch in rear with Dana44 disc brakes From dash forward looks to be decent. WHERE TOSTART???? WHAT TO REPLACE FIRST?
Thanks, Just in replacement Body parts its over $4000

Where to start? order a new fiberglass body. Then get another set of doors, tailgate, Fenders and on and on. Might be easier to list what is still usable. Anything can be saved but why? This puppy is like starting from scratch.

X2, if anyone knows rusty trucks, it's Rustytruck :)

You'll come out cheaper (and on the road 5 years sooner) finding another tub. Save what you can, doors, fenders, hood etc for your uncle's sake, good luck

I have a similar issue with my uncles old 69, not as many goodies as your 77. I am going to restomod, replacing the entire body with steel, new engine, seats, soft top, ps, pb...... it was left to me to do with it what I want, I could have sold it for scrap according to him and if your uncle did the same... do with it what you want. If you have the time and money, build it for your enjoyment, that is what would make your uncle proud.

Unless happy memories of it make you insist on restoring it the best thing to do would be strip it of all usable parts and give them a home on another Bronco.

D44 with disc brakes
Ford 9 inch rear (hopefully big bearing)
transmission?
transfer case?
front clip?
windshield frame?
etc.?

As it sits the parts are worth more than the whole.

Perhaps should have led with Purchase Price of $350, I believe I can do all work myself. Except paint and Engine machining. the Bronco's for sale out there are pricey and not better than mine. Looking to make it Safe and Drivable. Driver Rocker looks ok. Need to really inspect inner rockers.
Thanks for all the input.

Buy it and fix it. It may take a while, but you'll learn a ton! Keep one more on the road! You won't regret it, you'll just cuss a lot along the way.

About 1,000 hours in a typical restore, this one a bit more. If you can commit to the time, I say go for it.

You won't lose money on the parts. Even if you just get the tub together someone will buy for more than 5K.

Get the title registered into your name first. Find the VINs on the frame. A restored 77 drivetrain is worth rebuilding. Your tub is shot but you can buy a new tub these days if you have $12k. It will cost you $8-9k if u pay someone to rebuild your tub along with several months of your time.
