I use USAA and they will not offer anything beyond liability for my 75. Who do you guys use for full coverage?

After my wife backed into my 75 this morning causing $2k in damage, I need coverage!

Thanks in advance

Whistler,

I have full coverage on several of mine. I use Hagerty Classic car insurance. They value it at what you say it is worth. you send them pics and they will approve it or deny it. They will cover it fully for the amount placed on the Bronco if approved. Most classic auto insurance places want it to be covered or garaged too. I have my stockers and one cut with 33's on it and it is very reasonable. They won't cover anything that is used for off road use or a daily driver that you are planning on putting a ton of miles on. If you have large tires, winch, and other off road gear on your Bronco..they won't insure you. I think you can get by with having a roll bar, that is for safety. Just depends on how your gonna use your vehicle.

i can actually answer this one now...

i DID have state farm until they told me "it doesn't matter what you think your bronco is worth, the underwriters will never pay that for it"

SOOOOO i switched to travelers because i have my homeowners with them. I think it's right around 50-60 a month for agreed upon value/full coverage... and that is at 12k. i think i have a 3k limit on miles, can't be my daily driver yada yada yada. i don't know what i would lose if i converted to regular full coverage. i.e. would i still get the agreed upon value or not

My Steed is on classic coverage from Farmers, but we got lucky since there are 6 vehicles on the same account. But there again the bronco is close to being the most expensive since we re-insure it for more money almost every 6 months. Constant work in progress and probably will never change.

That's funny cause USAA told me they would not insure my 75 for anything other than liability... no exceptions.

Mine is all original and restored

I have full coverage on my '74 thru Farm Bureau. Have looked at Hagerty & Elite, but don't like the restrictions.

I used to have full coverage with USAA on the 68. I'm down to liability since I don't drive it on the streets much anymore.

It seems like people are all over the map with the same companies on what they can get.

Case in point - I've always insured my vehicles through State Farm. Years ago I decided I wanted to insure the Bronco at an agreed upon value so that if something catastrophic happened, I wouldn't be stuck getting $1000 for it since that's what someone's blue book said it was worth.

My agent said I needed to get an appraisal from a licensed appraiser and we'd go from there. Fine. Well, I never got the appraisal and let the insurance issue drop until I started asking a few Bronco friends a year or two ago what they were doing with their trucks.

One of them said he just called up his agent (also State Farm) and said how much he wanted it insured for and that was the end of it. Sure seemed easy to me. So I called my agent up, talked to one of the office workers and they insisted I needed to get classic car insurance (the kind with the mileage limitations, no 4 wheeling, etc.).

I didn't like that answer so I inquired about the type of coverage my friend (in another state) had on his Bronco through State Farm. "Nope, we can't do anything like that" was basically the answer I got. So that pissed me off.

Decided to go to another State Farm office closer to my house and talked to them. Not wanting to tread on my agent's feet, they said they thought I could do what I wanted but felt I should go back and talk to my agent first to make sure I really couldn't......

That must've woken someone up at the home office because the next thing I knew the agent herself (not one of the office drones I had talked to before) called me and said, "Sure, no problem, how much of a value do you want to insure it for?" Didn't need the appraisal or anything. So now I have a policy (not the cheapest one in the world, of course) that says my Bronco is insured for $15,000. Perfect.

I insure mine through e surance and since it is a third car there was no problem adding it with full coverage. Now I am sure if it were to get stolen I would never get out of it what I put into it so that is why it stays garaged (when I have it) and it is getting lo jacked.
