Yesterday about 8:00am I was doing yard work in front of my house and Don Barlow pulled up. Yes that Don Barlow. I have known Don for years and was aware that his son Steve raced desert trucks. It wasn't until a few years ago that I was speaking with Todd Z and found out that he raced Broncos back in the day. Every time I talked to Don I asked if he had any photos of the good ole days. Either he or I always had other things going on and could never get together. He said I have nothing today and I found the pictures. Well I had a dilemma. Do I finish yard work or go hang out with a legend!! Don said I will be home after lunch so a 2:00pm time was set. My wife and I ended up spending almost 4 hours with Don and his wife of 58 years. I believe he enjoyed going thru the pics so much he offered to let me take them and share with all of you. Here are a few and I will get as many posted as work time allows.
Look at the wheel travel in the 4th pic. Don says they had about 5 inchs of travel.
The 3rd pic is the cover of Off Road.
The 6th pic is the Baja 500 in 1971
Of course the 1st pic is Don and I by my Bronco.
