...Not a sexy topic by any stretch, but here goes: Is the carburetor base gasket for the Autolite 2100 carburetor (The gasket that goes between the carburetor and the spacer) the same as the gasket that rests between the carburetor spacer and the intake manifold? I am having a hell of a time sealing the latter... For what it's worth, I am working on a 1970 Bronco w/302.

THANKS!!;D

The place of bronco
if you are using the spacer then you use 2 thin base gaskets
one on top of the intake then the spacer then one more thin gasket the the carb. If you are not using the carb space you only use the thick base gasket
or you can get longer carb mounting studs

Pretty sure they are the same gasket. If your having sealing issues then the spacer may be warped you may want to check it with a straight edge. you can also try thicker gaskets or even doubling them up.

Next time you have it apart, run a large flat file across all the gasket surfaces. Go at it at different angles, carefully, until the file contacts the entire surface. At that point you will have a nice flat surface with no high or low spots.

Running the spacer over sandpaper taped to something really flat, like a piece of glass, will do an even better job. Tough to do that with the manifold or carb bottom though.
