Centech and license plate light

License plate light has two wires, centech harness has one. From what I understand, the license plate ground to the body when it is screwed to the tailgate. If so, how do I wire this?

Thanks,
Will

Idk if Centech changed anything since I wired mine , but only one wire back then. The problem I had was the OEM grommet was different.

From the Centech Instructions:

4. Locate the light green "LICENSE" wire and connect it to your license plate lamp. Make certain that the
lamp housing is grounded.

Yep. I have the instructions. The lamp has two wires. Centech has one green "license" wire. From my research, the housing grounds when it is attached to the tailgate. Do i pigtail the two wires on the lamp to the green wire?

Thanks
Will

It's been a while since I messed with the license plate light, but I recall one power wire going to the socket from the wiring harness and a second ground wire coming from the socket that secured to the body with an eyelet at the end and a sheet metal screw through the eyelet.

I ran both wires from the light down through the tailgate holes and terminated in a weather tight plug. hook up the centech green to the other side of the plug and then run a ground wire and attach it to the body at a convenient point for aground. If you don't put a plug in you wont be able to remove the tailgate. If I remember correctly they did not provide the plug with the wiring kit.

Yeah I just looked at mine and it has two wires coming off the harness side, one is obviously a ground. It has a 2 pin weather pack plug.

It's an unusual bulb number too. Twin contacts, but because it's not polarity sensitive the aligning/locking pins are symmetrical rather than offset like the typical 1157 bulb is.
The tailgate does not provide a reliable ground itself, so a more common 1156 bulb with single contact point and grounding through the housing was not reliable.

Most of the wiring harnesses do not provide the ground for every circuit. Up to you to run the ground to the body tub reinforcing channel just under the tailgate opening. I'm sure someone will provide a picture of theirs, but you may also be able to find the original screw hole for the original ground.

I ended up running a ground wire with the green wire into the taillight section and grounded the light to the same spot as the taillight assembly. Here are a couple pics. Hope it helps!

I will add that I should have installed a plug underneath to disconnect the wires in the event I ever needed to remove my tailgate.

My centech wiring harness only has one wire going up to the likened plate light.

My Centech harness only had the green wire for the light as well. I am running the tailgate silencer kit, I figured I would have a hard time getting a good ground through the tailgate, so I ran a ground wire to make sure that it was grounded.
