I had a bad experience with the bushings. This was in the race rig which runs 4wd hi all the time. I burned up a set of those in a few races. During low speed crawling, they'd probably last for a while. You must have clean stub shafts though. If the bearing races are pitted, it will chew the bushings up quickly.

Personally, I like the bearings better, but I take stuff apart regularly to maintain and check it. If you go the bushing route, you'll want to use the washer and seals just like if a bearing were present.

Is the bushing a better option than the bearing and seals?

Yes they are, IMO. They prevent water/mud/dirt from traveling up the spindle
and getting into the locking hub area. I use the extreme ones from WH and the
last time I opened up a hub my bearing grease was still clean. With the spindle
bearings I would always have to clean out the dirt, re-pack bearings, etc.

my outer axle shafts are a bit pitted so im thinking i should stick with bearings. I like the idea but only if i had new outer axles and spindles.
