What is the difference between say a stock dizzy and an msd? Do they really improve anything or is stock good enough on a mild engine.

My Duraspark had close to 260K on it before I replaced it. All that went bad was the vacuum canister. A stock ignition works fine until you decide to bump up the compression. Even then I still use a Duraspark and closed the plug gap down to .036".

really only the advance curve is different thats why many people see a improvement when they go to a aftermarket dizzy. But with a little time and about $15 worth of parts you can recurve your stock duraspark and it will be all you'll ever need for just about any engine.
I have heard of some recent issues with MSD dizzy's but not a lot.
