Thanks goodness Filly's rig is capable..

Loading it was...

...fun... Steering, such as it was, was accomlpished the entire way by using front wheel drive only with the ARB locked up. To turn left, use reverse..right, use forward.

Got more than few looks coming back home like this...

The perp is tired...:p Yes, my bro was driving it when it all let go.

0902240097.jpg

Carnage list:

F-250 outer knuckle destroyed
Lower ball joint separated
tie rod pretzeled and heim broken
Outer brake line separated
Lost two of the caps on the Superjoint
Wore out first tree and had to cut second one. And..the cause of it all..
Inner Yukon axle. The ears on teh axle broke and when the busted one tried to go past the outer..BOOM..off came the entire knuckle; the casting let go at the top ball joint.

We had fun.;D

OUCH - and I'm worried about the KP D60 knuckles on my Bronco... Sucks that an axleshaft can do that much damage..

That's an awesome recovery though. Gotta love that skid you rigged up. lol

The tow rig aint too shabby either. Looks like you guys came prepared for, uh...just about...everything. ;D

You going to warranty the Yukons and put em back in or try some different axles?

It was a challenge..that's fer sure. No more Yukon junk fer this kid. I was weaning my rig off of them already after I got sick and tired of snapping the outers so often..the outers were already Warns. Now they soon will ALL be Warns.;)

Biggest PITA besides not being able to steer..was this. I had to walk the whole way out holding the left rear down..breathing exhaust fumes.

I'll bet there's a beer in your left hand in that picture. ;D

Nice work, any damage to the axle?

That's amazing..you have x-ray vision or ESP?? ;D :p

Axle housing survived intact. The radius arm mount is toast..but hung in there without tearing completely off.

Sounds as if Yukon is responsible for more than a few catastrophic failures. I'm surprised that they have enough business to pay for all the warranties they must be getting.

All you get for the 'warranty' is another junk axle to make the same thing happen again. I'll be warranteeing everything out of my wallet..including a set of new Warns and another Superjoint or two.%)

Bill - you got 7 weeks til the Roundup...better get busy in the shop. Whip some labor out of Matt too, since he was driving. Sorry about the carnage, but maybe that means its behind you now and no breakage in June.

We were in Winchester yesterday and saw some rigs coming east on Rt 50 from Big Dogs, but we sure didn't see yours.

I like Judi's co-pilot!

That's the only thing I forgot to mention is that it would have been a Corona.

I even amazed myself on that one.

Nice rig Judi. Hope you made Bill ride bitch the rest of the weekend!

That's a great recovery. I hope I never have to use that idea, but it's always nice to have options when the time comes.
