    Starter motor for ZF5

I used a stock replacement gear reduction starter on my 351w/ZF combo.

I went a slightly different route:

    Power Wheels Bronco build

Still trying to decide between red or blue coils on the shocks... Flexes ok. Not amazing, but enough for a 2 year old.

    Power Wheels Bronco build

The rear suspension I pretty much swapped right over from the power wheels Jeep, it's not impressive, but it's adequate...for now. Basically just swing arms pivoting from frame mounts, with adjustable coilovers. The frame mounts are actually old wheelbarrow axle brackets I had lying around the...

    Power Wheels Bronco build

More fabrication: Here are the track bar, tie rod, and drag link - all internally threaded aluminum tubing, with 1/4" rod ends. Everything in place and mocked up. The upper track bar mount uses the original axle mounting location in the bottom of the plastic body. Coilover shocks have...

    Power Wheels Bronco build

If you're wondering why the spindles are so long, it's because the portal motor gearboxes need to slip over them, and they need to be long enough to pass all the way through the wheel and be able to thread a locknut on the end to retain everything. The portal gearboxes needed a little opening up...

    Power Wheels Bronco build

Been doing some work on it, mostly fabricating an entire solid axle front suspension - the Jeep front suspension was just absolute crap, only things I ended up using from it were the drive motor portal gearboxes. Started with the axletube itself - actually an 18" long section of old garage jack...

Remember those "Visible V8" model engines? Well, there's a new one - and it's a SBF.

1/4 scale? Hmmm, wonder if I could squeeze it into this?

https://silodrome.com/ford-mustang-v8-engine-model-kit/ OK, it's a Mustang 289, but it's practically the same thing as a Bronco V8. Close enough, anyway. On my Christmas list. :)

How come some of you only use ford parts?

Trans is a ZF, carb is a Q-Jet from an Oldsmobile, rear Dana 60 axle is from an International Harvester, rear calipers are from a Cadillac, front D44 knuckles/spindles/hubs/rotors/calipers are from a GMC, seats are from a Mercedes, wheels are from a Dodge Power Wagon.....

Does anyone else get bored with the same old builds?

Different strokes for different folks, but yeah, there are a few trends that don't sit well with me, and there's always a few things that are just flat out WRONG. Most of the "trends" won't last (that's why they're "trends") - huge diameter wheels with O-ring tires, quilted leather interiors...

    Power Wheels Bronco build

Scored a 4WD, lifted, Bluetooth-enabled parts donor on FBM for $100. New, these things are $500 - $600. Seller said it had a bad battery, but when I got it home and checked things out, it turned out the battery was fine - the problem was the original charger was bad. Yeah, it's a Jeep, but I...

Funny stories of how you got a bronco

Found my '71 on eBay - back when they used to have a "salvage/parts car" section. Bid $305 turns out I won the auction. My brother and I loaded up my Jeep Cherokee (XJ) in early September 2001, and headed out for Oklahoma. Picked up a Uhaul trailer in Amarillo, drug the Bronco (no drivetrain, no...

    Power Wheels Bronco build

Found some golf cart wheels and tires on FBM for a good price. Need a good cleaning, but at least they're all the same size. I know they look a little big, but once the suspension is under the Bronco (#2), the wheelbase is stretched a little, and the body is stretched to fit (probably in the...
