migs Bronco Barn - a chronicle of what's happening at the new place

Been busy cutting and buffing the clear, that's done but I have a couple spots to fix before I roll it out of the booth area to make space to finish painting the other parts. Here's a comparison of the paint surface before and after the wet sanding and buffing/polishing process. Also, the...

Anyone used the WH 5.0 Explorer PS/AC brackets with stock Explorer 5.0 coil packs???

Jim, I've been making an explorer coil pack mounting bracket for several years now, originally designed around your saginaw power steering pump bracket kit. I took advantage of that extra space and made it sit down in there nice and low. Then had some others interested in utilizing it with the...

Can't wait to see it sparkle in the sun light, here's a few close ups under the camera flash trying to show the pearl.

Did someone order some yellow pearl?... Been a busy few days, filling imperfections, more sanding, more primer, more sanding..... Well, before we get to it let's take a look back at this project where it was exactly one year ago today: And now as of tonight:

migs Bronco Barn - a chronicle of what's happening at the new place

Finally... although it's not yellow yet, it's nice to see it all one color.😁 The fiberglass and gel coat on that old tub sure ain't the best, lots of pinholes, odd ball checking marks and other imperfections, but the white primer helps show all that I missed that were difficult to see on the...

And after blowing all that dust away and wiping everything down I masked it all off in preparation for the first coats of primer.

migs Bronco Barn - a chronicle of what's happening at the new place

Ok, so it's been a rough month winter weather wise this year, almost constant freezing temps and multiple snow storms. Not much Bronco wrenching time, but a lot of seat time in the tractor pushing snow around. Even brought out the big snowblower a couple of times. There's a thick sheet of ice...

migs Bronco Barn - a chronicle of what's happening at the new place

And some more after most of the masking is removed. Yellow doesn't photograph well and you don't really notice the pearl without the sunlight. Getting the windshield frame done now should give it a good start to have the paint hardened up nice for when it's time to install the glass. I'm still...

migs Bronco Barn - a chronicle of what's happening at the new place

First the primer was applied, white in this instance to provide the proper ground coat for the yellow pearl to achieve the desired shade. After that cured and went through the sanding process the yellow pearl base coat was applied and then followed with a few coats of clear.

migs Bronco Barn - a chronicle of what's happening at the new place

We got some paint! Just a little though, It's been sub freezing here the past few weeks and the exhaust fan will just suck the heat out real fast so I just did the windshield frame for now. Prepping a windshield frame is bad enough never mind the extra layers of paint and the fact that a...
