Still no power or water (on a well). Just got enough cell service to get back on here. Not in one of the hardest hit areas, (about 30 or so miles from Lake Lure and Chimney Rock - which were among favorite destinations in the Bronco). So many roads blocked from downed trees and power lines. Should have power back by Friday night.

Beyond heartbreaking for those who lost their lives and everything they had. The devastation to the areas affected by wind, rivers and floods - it will take years to recover. Keep praying for those folks - and all those in each state impacted by Helene. They’ll need all the support they can get.
you need anything let me know. i got a helicopter to my disposal this weekend ... all i need is a add. or better gps coordinates and clear patch to land on . let me know

Hey Franko,
As always, you are in the thick of things helping out when you, yourself were impacted. Would be great to see you, but there are folks far worse off and in great need.

Simply an inconvenience here, trees down but no damage to home or garage. Done plenty of primitive camping - this time it’s just in a hard-sided tent😂. Power is estimated to be restored by Friday, except in the devastated areas. Road out was opened yesterday.

As to moving to the east coast of FL to escape the storms, just remember Andrew, Frances, Jeanne, Wilma, Irma and company…

Take care Franko, and stay safe and well.

I’m in the NW corner of SC, Anderson County. I was very lucky, no major damage, but massive tree damage all around me, power outages all around the county, businesses closed, those open are cash only. I spent yesterday morning delivering plugs for friends generators, drove abut 40 miles and the damage is unreal. Went thru some canes when I lived in LA and saw aftermath of several tornadoes when in 5 other states but I have never seen as much widespread destruction.
The more I see...the luckier I was!!!
Thoughts and prayers for all the others hit by this storm!!!

I got power, water, cell, doing this from tablet!!!

I used to work all over Western NC , some SC, doing telecom work in the early 2000s. I've seen all those little towns and communities where I worked just destroyed on the news. From Charlotte west to Asheville, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, Rutherfordton, Boone, Weaverville, and tons of other tiny little spots all around there not getting any recognition. All those places I worked, I wouldn't have hesitated to buy a home and live there forever. You never met an unfriendly person. It is devastating for me, just knowing how it was there, and now knowing all of that is virtually gone. Most of those places were Hallmark movie worthy locations, good little places you'd want to fall in love. Sappy, I know, but true. I'm terribly sad for everyone still having to deal with Helene's wrath. I'm in coastal GA, and lost power for 5 days, which sucked for me and my dogs, but at least power is all I lost... My thoughts and prayers go out to anyone still suffering from Helene or still wondering about their loved ones they can't contact.

I was interested in both the TN Tri Cities and Cocke Co before settling on Chat and both got hit hard from what I can tell. It appears it just missed Chat and my property from what I've read but I have no boots on the ground to give it to me straight.

When you say Chat, are you talking Chattanooga? My wife is on a work contract in Chattanooga, staying in Decatur TN. And I have friends in Ooltewah (suburb of Chattanooga). They all really just got rain. A handful of trees down in the area, but nothing major. If you want, PM me and I'll help you find out more...

Yes Chattanooga. Thanks but I'm not really worried about it, could stand to have a few trees knocked down, less work when I get there and start building!

Well, I'm heading up there on Friday, then going to Nantucket on Sunday, so if you want me to go take a look just PM me the address, I can probably go take a look on Saturday. When we sell our house down here, we're going to end up in the Chattanooga area too... Outskirts, most likely...

At least some stuff is returning to normal😂

Earlier this year I got an Amazon delivery the day after the tornado went through, 4 hours before and you couldn’t get down the road and 1/2 mile north of us was impassable for many days.

Franko.. I didn’t know you were in this area.
We have another one breaking down our neck. As of now Tampa to Fort Myers. Even if it’s not a direct hit, the surge is going to be bad. I been preparing the last two days..
I have either moved it up 4 ft or take it to storage.
