So finally after 50k miles I finally attempted to reduce some of this noise. They make some $500 and up sound dampening and sound proofing precut kits for this, but I ventured out on my own. I spent a total of $38.
I'm pretty much appalled at the lack of sound deadening and proofing this bronco has. It is literally a tin can. I bought some 5 mil self adhesive sheets, a pair of scissors, some glass cleaner and a rag and off I went. Pulled the door faces off and covered everything I could. Pulled the back side panels off and covered everything I could. Beginning dB going down the highway at 65mph with no wind was 86db. After the sound dampening and proofing it's now an awesome 74db which is absolute day and night difference. Took about 1.5 hours to do it all. Look how open everything is under the plastic side panels right above the tires. Next I'm going to bed line the inside of the tire wells on the top side. Major bonus points with the wife since this is her daily driver lol.
