Brake/clutch pedal attachment

Looking for some help on a 72 restoration (it never ends)
On the brake/clutch pedal bracket there are six or so holes that bolt to the firewall horizontally and two other holes in the front (towards the driver) as well that would allow for vertically placed bolts or studs for attachment to the cowl.
Are these two holes usually used or just the ones in the firewall?
Also some of the vendors sell a reinforcement plate that can be welded on the engine side of the firewall in this area.
Is this plate an OEM setup or is this just an aftermarket deal?
Any info or diagrams would be appreciated!

A couple of those threaded holes are used to attach the master cylinder to the firewall with the bolts being started on the master cylinder side. I think one of the other ones more toward the driver would be used to bolt on a rubber stopper which limits the clutch pedal. I seem to remember another threaded hole used to attach a bracket for one of the flasher units but not sure.

Thought this might need a picture. The hole that's circled is one of the one's that I'm wondering if it's used for attachment to the cowl.

Yes, that is correct. My cowl was replaced and the holes did not exactly line up putting everything back together. I ovalled out those top holes in the pedal assembly to make it all fit together.

Ok thanks for the response
What about the reinforcement panel on the firewall side?
Is that something you did or just left the firewall as is?
