Anyone eliminate stock license plate bracket?

I was tearing parts off of my rusted out tailgate, to move to my new tailgate. I was wondering if anyone found a neat way to eliminate the stock license plate bracket and mounted the license plate somewhere else.

You could French it in the tailgate or build a tag holder in a bumper. Not many options back there.

I bought a bracket and modified to use for a bumper mount.

When I did my full restoration 22 years ago I had it removed and all the holes welded up. I have used a dealership magnet ever since with no problem at all. It's nice to just pop it off when washing it. I also had all the rear quarter body seams welded up.

If you’re running a rear mounted spare you could always get a mount to run it on there. Here is an example I found on google. I plan to do something similar.

Nope, never put a plate light on. Honestly, I never thought about it until your question.
Probably not a big deal unless your state has a safety inspection that a 50+ yo Bronco would need to comply with.

I sold one on BaT a few years ago that had a smooth tailgate, this is what I did (kept the stock light):

I had Highline order the tailgate without the Ford embossed so that they could close off the oem location of the oem license plate bracket. Reused the bracket because I don’t like how Icon places the license plate on the outside of the spare wheel.
