Painting small parts

I sandblasted the throttle, pedal box, clutch and brake pedals and used self etching primer on them. How are you painting the small pieces of your build? I really didn’t want to get the paint gun out to paint a bunch of small pieces, but if the paint holds up better thru a paint gun, rather than a quality aerosol paint can, it may be worth it. I wanted to get your views and opinions. Thanks.

I have had good results just using rustoleum rattle cans. Most littles part are usually in places not seen and out of the sunlight and weather. On under carriage parts, I brush on por15 and top coat with rattle can paint.

I just started using a paint by Seymour coatings. Way better coverage and lays down almost like powdercoat. Dry time is a bit longer.

for me it depends on where the part is gonna be, so i have 3 black spray cans. if its exposed to weather i tend use the vht more often. pedals and interior bits, the krylon and rustoleum spray on super easy and are pretty durable if you let them cure properly

VHT chassis epoxy
POR 15 chassis black
Krylon rust tough enamel

I have used Rustoleum for many years. I sand blast then spray the rusty metal primer. Although no rust after blasting, I’ve found the reddish colored rusty metal primer to have better adhesion. Then follow with Rustoleum black.

You can also get the powder coat gun at HF cheap and pick up a large toaster oven at s thrift store. I have PCd many small parts that way. Good news is once they are in oven 20 minutes you take them out, let them cool and then mount them… no waiting for paint to cure and almost unscratchable. Any color available.

Eastman Black chassis paint and Primer, with a home made drying rack... With the shop mini split heater in winter or the sun during the summer.
