66 Autolite 1100 Float Questions

I'm in the process of rebuilding the carb on my 66. I've read through several previous posts and searches that the float is different and the carb was modified for off road use. When I separated mine it has a brass float like most other Autolite 1100 carbs but nothing stands out as different. My question is does anyone have pictures of how the float is different and does anyone have any in depth details of how the carb was modified to handle off road use?

I have more questions than answers.
I don't have any pictures. They have a torsion type spring to help maintain seat tension.

They also have 3 check balls that must be installed.

They came from the factory with a bowl vent that is attached to linkage with a plastic type rod that generally is gone at this point. You can buy a replacement or if you are really handy make one. The metal rod in your picture might be it , can't tell for sure from the picture. I'm drawing a blank right now on the company that sales them and carb kits. They are around $20. The company has a utube video. If nobody else chimes in I'll go back through and try to find the information for you, IF you want it. It will be a few days before I can spend the time looking.

Here are a few pictures of my carb. I've talked to Mike's Carburetor Parts who has all the YouTube videos and he said there was nothing special about the Bronco Autolite 1100. Everyone knows the pain of one year only part issues with the 66. But now I'm very curious about the torsion spring which makes sense. The next step would be a visual of it and where to purchase the torsion spring if they are even reproduced.

I haven't double checked, but I think he is the one with the parts and video. I'll double check later for you.

The 2nd and 3rd picture shows you have the upgraded bowl vent rod.

When I sold my 66 a few months ago I gave them a spare parts carb and a few extra 66 6cyl parts. I had a extra spring in the spare. Like I said previously I don't have any pictures. Pretty sure a new one came in the kit??

Sorry. I was hoping someone else would have a picture. It wasn't anything that special just keeping tension on the float. Like you said, This is part of having a one year item. The original carb had the threads for the fuel filter stripped and what looked like JB weld holding it tight. Instead of a heli coil I looked for a replacement carb. Took awhile and picked one up from a member here.

I appreciate the info. I did get a rebuilt carb from Nick yesterday and it looks amazing! I did get curious last night and opened it up and it didn't have a spring either on the float. Not a big deal but I'll still try to find a picture of one.

This issue finally got the best of me so I found another Bronco carb and it has a brass piece around the adjusting tab on the float. Is this what you are referring to gnpenning?

After picking up a spare 170 for my 66, I took the C6TF carb off, opened it up and finally have a picture of the torsion spring for the float.
