Hypothetically speaking… trail tops?

Been thinking about a side gig making those awesome trail tops cover the cab and door openings. I know some of us lost money to a previous vendor that “vanished” after taking money.

Id only take this on, if there was enough interest. I wouldn’t take pre-payments just in case I can’t get a workable solution with my novice sewing skills.

Id make it simple…. 1 fabric (sunbrella or similar) in 1 color (black) in 1 size to fit the full hardtop which should also fit all configurations down to no top. Top would also have straps with fastex-style buckles to secure it.

If there‘s an option already out there, let me know and I’ll bag the idea. If it’s something you’d want… post up here. No clue on price but I’d make it as reasonably as possible.

If by some chance you have Amish living 'near' you, I would consider having a harness (buggy) shop make them on consignment. Up in NE Ohio (and I'm sure where there are other larger settlements) there are many of them already equipped with commercial grade sewing machines and a ready labor force.
A quality made pattern would be needed, then find the 'best' shop to do them and get a bulk price for production. Then you would need to figure out shipping and associated costs.

Just spitballin' this morning while waiting for the first 50+ degree day since probably October!!!!

Sounds like a good idea?

What is the point of these? To secure your truck in camp if you go for a hike?

I used one on my previous truck for various reasons…
Inside garage for cleanliness and prevented me from using bronco as storage box
Adds addl barrier to keep water out of truck when topless and/or doorless

I especially liked it when doorless and parked outside. It went off and on quickly and avoided moving heavy doors around unnecessarily and risking dents, scratches and lost paint.

Could 3 shapes fit most needs?
Full top to the rear, roll bar to drop behind the front seats with a bump for the rear seat back and a no bar like Tasker posted?

Not sure what material the Amish use for their buggy tops, but seems waterproof and lasts 'forever'. Color - BLACK, some areas use gray or tan it seems???

A couple years ago I found "5 left" on eBay. Picked one up...it's cheap and probably won't last long, but it's nice to have.
Might think about a padded heavy duty option that would be good enough to trailer in the rain.

I got lucky getting 2 from SaddleUp. Soon after that I hear stories on how he ghosted a lot of people who paid and did not receive goods.
