Well it's started, just got billed $98.00 tarrif fee for importing a $199.00 US order from a US supplier. I thought they would only charge on the order but tarrifs are also applied on the shipping.
With the tarrifs, GST, shipping and exchange on the dollar a 199.00 US order is costing me over $500.00 Canadian.
That is certainly going to make a huge difference to the cost of a restoration if you live in Canada where 99% of the parts needed have to come from th USA.

Were the charges from the supplier or the shipping broker?
Goddamt! If they charged a tariff surcharge on shipping, I would go batshit crazy, tell them to shove it straight up their ass, and make sure every one I know knows about it....

If the surcharge on the shipping was the supplier, PLEASE tell me it wasn't one of our Bronco Brothers?

Not sure how far north you are but is it possible to drive across the border and pick up to avoid the extra fees?

I just picked you over $2k in parts from the states. Brought it in myself and only had to pay taxes. Was told when I was there paying there wasn’t a tariff on auto parts but it could come at any day. Sounds like the shipping company screwed you. I started using a package place in a border town to save on the ridiculous brokerages fees years ago after I had to pay $40 at the door for a $20 tool.

Before this thread gets off topic, I'll just remind everyone that political comments/discussions aren't allowed on this site. So please keep that in mind when replying to this thread.

I'm not saying you can't talk about tariffs, like sharing your experience with costs, who is charging what, alternative ways to save money, etc. Just keep politics out of it.

They applied it on the shipping as well, I asked UPS for an explanation but they have not responded. Paid over 500 canadian for a window felt kit.

Shipping is going to eat up the most of your money. I just paid 122.00 on a 200 dollar order, all small parts. I am almost at the end of the build though.
