Now that we are halfway neck deep in this, what are you trying to do? Just wanting to freshen up the old engine that has bad heads? Performance increase? Just trying to make the pile of parts you have into a running engine as quickly and cheaply as possible? Without a little more background...

Headers Do you still have the headers?

I am selling my 73 with a 302 automatic. Six months ago the truck was painted, new spray in bed liner, a 3" suspension lift, 14pc bushing kit, 33x12.50 mud kings, 15" Pacer wheels, front and rear brakes, and dual exhaust were installed. I can email pictures if interested.
