Comment by 'nvrstuk' in article 'Ford 6r80 6 speed automatic trans into a Bronco behind any SBF engine'

I was making a kit similar to what Perf Automatic was making until I redesigned it and designed a hub to eliminate the converter fitting in the end of the crank issues and spacing issues. I was not (still not) interested in making them in quantity for wholesaling. That said, WH now carries Perf...

Comment by 'nvrstuk' in article 'AODE & 4R70W 3 speed automatic - Transmission Guide'

Check out the gear ratios available on the 6r80 as a comparison. 4.17 first gear, two OD gears, close ratios. Worth looking at for sure. I've done a couple and they are the hot ticket. Full manual or full auto control. I ran 6 different tranny's prior to this in my same Bronco. Loved my 4r for...

Comment by 'nvrstuk' in article 'Ford 6r80 6 speed automatic trans into a Bronco behind any SBF engine'

I am currently building a "different kind" of Bronco and am using a 6r80 again but with the SpeedGems adapter. I will update the above Tech Article when I am done. I have bolted the 6r to the 418 sbf stroker and other than having to trim the dowel pins down some it fits fine. I will offer more...

Comment by 'nvrstuk' in article 'Optima Battery Myth Busting - Best battery for winching and daily driving'

Paul- all my I fo is direct from 2 different Optima reps on their tech line or their site. In my post it says that the Yellow is for winching not starting. The Red is for vehicles that don't have winches. I didn't mention the Blue Optima at all.

Comment by 'nvrstuk' in article 'Optima Battery Myth Busting - Best battery for winching and daily driving'

Correction on another comment- there are more differences in the batteries than just top/side terminal placement. Optima's site states (along with the tech quotes in the tech article) that the batteries have different standing voltage ratings like mentioned in the tech article-not just...

Comment by 'nvrstuk' in article 'Optima Battery Myth Busting - Best battery for winching and daily driving'

Just a heads up. i guess the another thing that should be addressed in the comments is the Optima Tech article was only written to help us determine which Optima is best for use in our Broncos. This is why the other Optima batteries were specifically not mentioned in the write up.

Paul, thanks for noticing that my AGM statement printed out wrong saying "Advanced" instead of "Absorbed". My original Word document reads "Absorbed". I'll get it changed. Other inaccuracy isn't one. :) The tech article doesn't state that an Optima is a "gel" battery. I mentioned that I...

Optima Battery Myth Busting - Best battery for winching and daily driving

This short Tech article is to help with Myth Busting the inaccuracies on the Internet and Facebook about Optima and other AGM style batteries AND which Optima is best for winching and daily driving. I started using "Gel" type batteries (not saying that Optima's are "gel" batteries. They aren't)...

Comment by 'nvrstuk' in article 'Ford 6r80 6 speed automatic trans into a Bronco behind any SBF engine'

I do. Shoot me a PM and I can send some pics if you'd like. Nothing really different other than just being shorter is all. Keep the angles correct and zero issues with running rear driveshafts as short at 15". I ran a 20" rear DS for 15+ yrs w/o a single issue. My Bronco gets used almost every...

Yes, I have pics and details in my build thread... it's kinda long but it's there. You can pm too if you want. The 6r is the same length (within 3/8") of a 4r70 so length isnt an issue unless for some reason you might try a 5.5" suspension lift which isn't recommended.

Ford 6r80 6 speed automatic trans into a Bronco behind any SBF engine

Ford's 6R80 is a super tough, 6 speed automatic that can easily handle 850/850 RWHP & torque all in a package almost identical in size to a 4R70W The 6R80 trans you want for a Bronco comes from an F150, with a 5.0, and must be a 4x4 model. It comes in 2009 through 2017 Ford F-150 pickups and...
