I only have one tank

I just put a new sending unit in and everything worked fine when fuel tank was just about empty I filled it up And now my fuel gauge stays on full

my valve stem seales need to be replaced, the only time it smokes is when it has been running and then shut off to go into a store or something when i come out and crank it , a puff of smoke will come out of the tail pipe and then it goes away, i assume oil has leaked down out of the valves on...
