I have been running that exact setup for years now. Stock explorer internals, p heads, bronco hut headers, edelbrock intake, quadrajet carb. To this point I haven’t had an issue.

I have the WH rock skis mounted using their hardware. Came down super hard on a few rocks last season and they held up ok. Nothing fell off or broke, definitely protected the body. The only issue i had was some of the screws coming loose. A few minutes with the screw driver fixed that.

Did these come off a bronco? Did you have to trim the original wheel studs for the 1 inch spacer?

Increasing temps at idle usually indicate an airflow issue over the radiator. Once the vehicle is at speed it has airflow again dropping the coolant temperatures. The puff of smoke is interesting and im not certain how that would tie into an over heating at idle issue. Could be running lean at...
