    Engine Rebuild and Cleanup

Started in to replace a leaking freeze plug, and the 302 in my 72 Bronco needed a rebuild. The good news was that it didn't appear to ever having been apart. I'm glad I'm doing it now. First because one of the cam bearings and the timing gear were really worn, with the cam bearing being in...

    Rock Sliders for 2022 Badlands

Hey Y'all, Haven't been here for a while, but after 13 months, finally have 50 years of Broncos. A 72 and a 22. The 72 is still my deer hunting vehicle. For the 2022 Badlands, I'd ordered it with running boards, but it came with the Rock Sliders and no Steps. I have a short wife, so I wound up...

    KS Thinking Of Selling 72

Apologies extended. I'd decided to sell and started here. Got caught up in taking care of some family matters and haven't been here to check on responses. Then when I did get a chance to catch up, my "Admiral" asked what I was doing. When I told her I'd decided to sell the Bronco, She told...

    insane bronco prices

When I was a kid, I always thought Bronco's up to 76 were "The Thing" to have. Couldn't afford one back then. Have one now that's fun to drive, fun to hunt in, fun to take the top off in the summer and drive it around as a convertible. I get offers on it every time I drive it. It's mine and...

Sputters and dies when put in gear... Help

Had a problem similar to this with a Ford Van. Double check to ensure you're getting a good ground with the electrical system. The bouncing down a country road might well have been an initial indicator. It took an "Old Timer" mechanic to realize that the gremlin we had was simply a bad ground...

75 Cranks - No Start - No Spark

Off the top of my head and remembering from decades ago, Check rotor bug and check cap to ensure it's not cracked, fouled and causing a short. Spark should be a sharp snap, not 'weak'. Check Coil to Distributor Wire. A bad coil wire to distributor can cause no spark.

Rebuilt Transfer case has missing tooth - Should I worry about it?

Good Lord, I thought "Mailbox" Warranties went out decades ago. You know what a "Mailbox" Warranty is? If you drive past their mail box, the Warranty is no good. If someone had sent me one like that, they'd be the ones paying the freight on it.

    Bronco No Go

Yeah, my 72 did that to me one day. Had been in 4wd H and back into 2wd H. Driving down the road and next thing I knew, "No Go". Reached down and pulled it back into 2wd H and no more problems. So I'd try that first.

    Takes forever to fire over

Just a couple of thoughts and ideas. Fuel leaking down out of the carb might be a problem. Fuel evaporating might be a problem. Sitting long periods and not being driven much might also be a problem. I put Sta-Bil in everything that might sit long periods of time. Generator, Boat Motor...

    Couple of questions

Bill, While putting in a new water pump on my 72, I mentioned your problem to my machine shop buddy. He suggested that your problem could be one of two things, both of which you should check immediately if not sooner. His opinion was that either A: Someone has recently rebuilt your diff...

Getting Ready To Replace Water Pump

;D;D;D Done, Done, Done! Replaced Waterpump, hoses and thermostat. Also replaced thermostat relief/return hose. All new clamps. Everything unbolted and bolted back in. This 72 has had a 73 p/s added to it with a 'different' crankshaft pulley added to accomodate the extra v-belt. That...

    Headlight Issue

I had a similar problem. Changed the dimmer switch and lights came on, but would take a bit or go out occasionally. Used "Electric Switch Cleaner" available at Radio Shack on the headlight switch. No more troubles.

Aero Fuel Tank Install - Venting Question

Wow, 23 gallons of pushmoline? If I ever have a problem with the stock tank, 23 gallons of motionlotion at one fillup would be one heckuva a range extender! Keep us posted on how well this turns out.
