New to me Holley 4160 running extremely rich

Ditched the problematic Powertech injection system and bought a used 4160 off ebay. Cleaned thoroughly and installed stock rebuild kit with 67 jets, 6.5 powervalve, etc.. The motor is a stock 302. Starts and runs great, just tons of fuel rich exhaust filling the air. Set idle mixture with vacuum...

Should the intermediate housing be dry or wet?

Thanks for the help! Just waiting on the gaskets from Wild Horses and I will button it all up and hope for the best. It was so hard getting all this stuff out I can’t even imagine how long it will take to get back in.

Should the intermediate housing be dry or wet?

Trans fluid kept disappearing and ending up in the tcase. Finally got the dana20 removed and pulled the spud shaft. The double lip seal looked good but there were slight grooves where it rides the spud shaft so maybe that was enough to cause a leak? What I don’t get is that the intermediate...

Separating the Dana 20 from the C4

So transmission fluid was going into the transfer case so much that the trans wouldn’t shift properly. Spent about six hours getting the six bolts out that hold the t-case to the adapter housing (Ford could not have made this vehicle more difficult to work on if they tried) and now it just sits...

The most complete and safest steering conversion.

Have done a ton of reading and there seems to be so many ways to go..I am paralyzed by indecision. I have a 73 with manual steering and the box is a little loose and as you all know the ratio is terrible. Junkyards around me are only late model so that's out and even if I could find the right...

    insane bronco prices

15 years ago they were more expensive than a similar quality Scout or Jeep but still within reason. Now it is just out of hand but if you look....most vehicles with any kind of fanbase are going up, even stuff from the 80's like 3-series bmw's, 911's, fox body mustangs, etc.

Steering linkage replacement. Stock or aftermarket?

Having the manual steering box rebuilt and doing a front disc conversion from Horsepower on ebay thanks to the advise I got here. To get the steering box out I had to cut the drag link with a sawzall. Since I can't reuse the drag link and the tie rod looks a little bent I have replace these...

    Front disc conversion. Which one?

Lots of great info thanks everyone. So the vac booter is just a so-so improvement over manual? Hydroboost would be great but I have manual steering at the moment, although the steering shaft has movement where it attaches to the box so maybe time to upgrade that as well?

    Front disc conversion. Which one?

Hello, first post one day after acquiring my Bronco. It's a 73 with manual four wheel drums. Having owned a Scout configured this way in the past I would like to upgrade the front to disc and also get a booster to help with driveability. Living in urban MD this will be a 90% street truck until I...
