Trans fluid kept disappearing and ending up in the tcase. Finally got the dana20 removed and pulled the spud shaft. The double lip seal looked good but there were slight grooves where it rides the spud shaft so maybe that was enough to cause a leak? What I don’t get is that the intermediate...

So transmission fluid was going into the transfer case so much that the trans wouldn’t shift properly. Spent about six hours getting the six bolts out that hold the t-case to the adapter housing (Ford could not have made this vehicle more difficult to work on if they tried) and now it just sits...

15 years ago they were more expensive than a similar quality Scout or Jeep but still within reason. Now it is just out of hand but if you look....most vehicles with any kind of fanbase are going up, even stuff from the 80's like 3-series bmw's, 911's, fox body mustangs, etc.

Having the manual steering box rebuilt and doing a front disc conversion from Horsepower on ebay thanks to the advise I got here. To get the steering box out I had to cut the drag link with a sawzall. Since I can't reuse the drag link and the tie rod looks a little bent I have replace these...

Lots of great info thanks everyone. So the vac booter is just a so-so improvement over manual? Hydroboost would be great but I have manual steering at the moment, although the steering shaft has movement where it attaches to the box so maybe time to upgrade that as well?
