So, cyl. heads on the "new" motor (2010 build, sat around for 10 yrs) are trash (at a minimum need to be disassembled, hot tanked, rebuilt). Compression is not ideal in at least one cylinder. Can't determine whether it's rings or valves or _____ until the heads come off.
Best case - bolt new aluminum heads to existing 347 forged stroker motor
Worst case - new heads and rebuild the short block, reusing crank and . . . .
More fun worst case - start from ground up. Problem is, stuck with 302 /8.2" deck platform unless/until I identify, in great detail what will need to change to fit a 351 in this modified build.
In true Backpain form, doing it all backwards, again. Engine bay is pristine and painted. New fab work on inner fenders and rad support are not an option.
Would love to drop in a 351W based engine, but may just be stuck building another 302 stroker . . . . .
Should have predicted this and built a mild 408 and worked out fitment issues before paint. A complete Coyote motor and controls would be cheaper at this point, but the fitment fab is a no go this late in the game.
Now: Boss 302/Dart/World Products heavy duty block, 10:1+, push the limits of a 347-363 . . . . . Totally doable, but please, please talk me out of this rabbit hole
PS - somewhere in there, yet another dirt bike got added to the mix. Simply out of control. Out of control.
