Hey! Who knows what font is used for the famous "Bronco" script on the front fender. I am having it plasma cut into a beadlock rim. Any ideas?

As far as I know it's not a font like you will find on the computer, but if you want a CAD file of it PM me your email and what file format you want it in. I can do most flavors of DWG, DXF, and if necessary image files like JPEG or BMP.

I sent you a pm but I will throw it out here as well. I am thinking it must be a font called Lucida handwriting. What do you all think? Open up "word", type Bronco in that font italicized.

For some reason I don't think I got your PM.

This is what I have in CAD form, don't mind the fuzzy image, that is just a screen shot, not rendered.

It's not a font. It's a one-off design. Pretty typical back in the day. Same thing with the Mustang and other muscle car emblems. Ford just created the blueprints and made the mold from that. They didn't type it in on a computer, so no fonts needed.

Even MORE typical nowadays, with patents, trademarks, copyrights, lawsuits, infringement, royalties, pranksters...

Anyway; do some searching on the font websites and download a few thousand of the free ones. You might find one that's pretty close. ;)

You might even run across a Font geek who recognizes it, and can tell you what font to use. :p

True,
But if I recall, if you make something for yourself, there is no fear of patent infringement. On the other hand, if a product for sale was beng produced, then Ford may send you a nasty Cease and Desist letter.

Check and see if the software for the sewing machine will accept DXF or DWG and convert it. I'm assuming a computer operated sewing machine is just like any other CNC device, be it a mill, lathe, plasma cutter, or anything that accepts the path data. I did a Google search and found where some programs will take DWG or DXF, so chances are good it will work, but the conversion process will probably be done on the software that runs the sewing machine.

Just PM me with your email address and I'll send you the files. I generally send 2000 year format DWG and DXF since it's widely compatible.

Not true. Infringement without profit is still infringement, which is how the RIAA throws housewives in jail for their kids downloading music.

That'd be the LIGHTEST thing they could do, but Ford doesn't criminalize its customers the way RIAA & MPAA do.

I'm no lawyer.............but patent law is different from copyright law...........with copyright law being far more punitive

I could easily see Ford wanting to assert their copyright rights so as to protect their ability to use the font again should they ever create a new model of our beloved Bronco

I'm not sure the RIAA comparison is valid, as not only downloading was going on, but also sharing. A computer open to a network for sharing is a lot different than making a single item, or a few to give your buddies.

A fab shop in MN was making windshield knobs a few years ago for a few of the EB vendors. The knobs had the Bronco logo on them, and he did get a nasty cease and desist letter (only).

I'm no attorney by any means, but that is the precedence I was going by.
