Tubular core support and front end

So I have been thinking about a tubular core support and front end. Reason core support has been hacked up by the previous owner. Inner fender on the drivers side is a little rusty and shows signs of repair. That's the start. It all would need replaced. Plus I just got a set of fenderwell headers inner fenders are going to have to be cut. Amy body have tips, reasons why or why not. Pictures if already done. Any help or thoughts are wanted.

I had one built years ago. Kind of wish I hadn't. Maybe it was the builder I used (who wanted to do things his way instead of how I wanted them done) but to me, it is too darn difficult to mount anything.

Starter solenoid and voltage regulator are now on the fire wall, and wires have to be lengthened. I have an aftermarket headlight harness I'd like to install, but there's no more core support to mount the relays to. So, again, I'm lengthening wires - this time on a brand new, well built harness. It still concerns me that someday I'm going to run over a rock or something that's going to get thrown up into my fiberglass hood and damage it. Driving in the rain concerns me for spraying water up into the engine and distributor.

Had I thought it out more before I had it done, I would have just repaired the damaged inner assembly and left it stock. Like you, I had rusty and damaged inner fenders, kick panels, and core support, so it made sense to remove everything and start from scratch.

Had I used a different builder, I might not be as frustrated as I am though.

Thanks for the input. I understand the issues you had and I believe I have a way around that issue. Think I'll make ledges to mount the accessories.

Here is one example built by WCB. Eventually I will need to have some inner fenders built to protect the engine from rocks/weather/etc...

I did mine with tube, 1.25 and it has been great. I have not had a chance to build inner fenders but it will be pretty easy when I do. I am swapping in a Coyote, being able to pull the front clip completely has made it much easier.
Look at my build thread for more info.

all looks wonderfull think thats the way i am going. other than thegreatjustino, everybody happy with the choice? i thought about building inner fender structure out of like 1/2 tube or something, then riviting sheets of aluminum to them or quick fasteners. thoughts? just like to be different than the rest i guess.

Here is mine, built by the p.o. out of 1.75 tube. I like it, had no overheating issues driving it around in Texas heat last summer/fall. I'm currently working on removable inner fenders that I can leave out while street driving, but if wheeling, can throw them in to protect the engine compartment...

I decided to go with a tube core support because hangin everything I wanted in there would of just been a pain in, as to do with the sheetmetal. I used 14 ga. square tube. It's just so easy to get to everything like clips and brackets and stuff. I took exact measurements of the sheetmetal core height, length where the mount brackets go, radiator brackets and so on and wala the fenders hood and grill fit perfect. It was actually easier than I thought but time consuming. Inner fenders are next on the list when the makeover happens, and will probaly use 1/2 square tube like you said with zeuss fasteners. I don't know how to get my build thread for you but if you search wangotango 74 eb build thread here, the core pics should be around page 3. If you have any questions just pm me or post back here.

Here's mine before, during fab, and when finished. Re-running everything that you have mounted is the most difficult part. I had my compressors, Wrangler battery switch, A/T cooler and other stuff mounted on the fenders that all had to be completely re-located. I also moved the batteries to the rear. It's a bigger mod than it seems.

crab i like it. I like how it mounts to the firewall with the long plate and has bracing there. ok so heres my question to you guys running the battery on the firewall. does it interfere with the blolwer box or dash at all. from what i can see and remember with out and going to look at my bronco, doesnt look like you run the factory box?

I really like mine. Keeps it all nice and cool. I need to make some aluminum removable inner fenders. If I was going to do it again I would make it out of round tubing and maybe try to tie it into the cage through the dash.
