Stealthy speaker options?

I’ve been debating the future speaker set up in my 76. I plan to go with a retro sound receiver and a single speaker in the dash, to keep it mostly Original. I know the sound will suck, so I was looking to add another sound system that could be removable. I had settled on the WetSounds 6 mounted to the roll cage. Before I go down that path, I thought I’d throw the question out to see what other more stealth speaker set ups you all run? I don’t want to cut my doors, I want to add something that is subtle but gives me great sound and doesn’t require a ton of modifications.

An early bronco is an acoustical nightmare. Just not enough room to add quality with out a lot of work plus the lack of sound deadening.
In my opinion a simple stealthy approach is the dual speakers in the stock location with a sound bar under the rear seat. This will give you “decent” sound and remain as hidden as possible.

I was going to suggest something under the rear seat, or perhaps something like those unobtanium kick panel pods.

i built these. the design shows up better before paint. the only problem with them is that once they are in and roll cage is in front of them, they are in for life. the covers can come off even with the cage in place. holes in back are for USB charging port and switches for under rail LED lights

I have a JBL soundbar under the rear seat. Its the best modification I did.

Its so loud and clear. The kids love it. Top off or on.... its fantastic. Also nobody knows its there. So no fear of theft.

I really like the idea of the sound bar mounted under the rear seat. Did you all mount it to the body/floor or frame of the seat? How’d you run the wiring?

I was looking eBay for your JBL sound bar. Couldn’t find anything do you have a part number thanks

Lgdbt has the model number JBL ub4100 posted in his garage. I was originally going to install the wet sound stealth 6 or 10 sound bar.

Has anyone heard both? Which one sounds better?

I did something similar to hankjr except I covered the whole interior rear quarter with 1/16" aluminum sheet and carpeted it. It's much stronger than the OE card board panels. Then I put Alpine 5 1/2" speakers in the same place as hankjr. The sound is excellent with good separation. It won't rattle the windows of homes I go by, but I wouldn't want to. The speaker grills are protected by the role bar.

Ran the wires under the carpet to the dash. I use the bluetooth function to play Pandora or downloaded music from my cell. You can blow your ear drums out it can get so loud....

Buy the speaker pods that will mount on your driver and passenger side kick panels to allow a clean and easy location for mounting stereo systems. Much better than stock speaker. If you paint them body color they blend right in....don't have to cut anything. Tom's has them .
