1966 or not?

My latest bad idea. Found it and planned for parts but it seems pretty solid. Heading to grab it over the weekend. Anybody see something that indicates it's not a '66?

1966, less the eyebrow grille, I hope.

Hard top, doors, speedometer(but could also be found on some 67'), front locking hubs, trany shift knob, rear lenses and dash knobs are 66', as well as the driver door mirror.

Definitely a later one if it is, as the rear shocks face rear. Not a 66' tailgate or transfer case shifter, or horn button or grill, rear bumper and hood not 66'. No VIN? If it weren't for the dash knobs, I'd put $.50 down on it being a 67' :)

Thanks for the input. seller claims it's a 66 but noticed some of those things also. Either way, price was right and it has some new parts I was after.

Thanks for the help. Eager to bring home another POS to add to my collection (now two 66 Bronco and two 57 Chevy). Gonna get in trouble with Mrs soon.

You need to get the VIN off the frame but no matter what year it is you should restore it, it's way to good to part out.

Cowl doesn't match the one on my 66. id say it's a combination of a number of years. nice mixture of parts.

Isn't the radiator surge tank a 67 thing?

Usually is, but I can't remember if they had it on the '66 289s too or not (thinking they probably did).

My guess is that it's a late '66 with a mish-mash of parts on it. '66 master cylinder on it.

Rear facing shocks came along about the time of the V8 intro and as did the t-handle t-case shifter.

Thanks all. With a bit of work, thinking this might make a good Driver. My reliable Japanese truck is ridiculously boring. This 66-67 doesn't seem to be anything too special, just a nice old truck. We'll see how bad the rust is but unless it's much worse than pics, I'm not too worried. And it has a new floor pan anyway. Seller said that A pillars are weak though. That may be some work.

Here's a copy of the tag. This isn't at all like my 66 u13 though. Very curious to get vin from frame and ensure it agrees. Supposedly it's been in the area forever and still tagged with legit title.

That's the buck tag from the engine compartment, very cool! Vin badge will be on the driver kick panel of course.

What are the first 3 digits after U15NL???

'66 master cylinder on it.

If the seatbelts have L-shaped brackets that bolt to the floor-those are 66. Flat ones are 67-77. What does the door panels look like?
I'm thinking late 66

^^^^^^^^^^^^^ Yep, I've heard stories, but haven't seen one in person. I've heard of a build sheet rolled up in there too lol. I've come across several where the wire is still in place under the hood but the tag was gone.

Maybe some day I'll find something cool like that/this! :)

Yea things tend to show up in the strangest of places on the almost 12 year run of these rigs.
