Hello all I need some help here I'm looking at a 1992 T-5 Mustang 5 speed to put in my Bronco and replace the stock 3 speed, does anyone know what the gear ratios are for each gear 1st,2nd,3rd,4th,5th. I know the problem that I have with the stock 3 speed is that it does not seem to have a low enough 1st gear so it seems to be a problem when I try and run it in 4 wheel high just seems to work the clutch to hard. My Bronco has 411 rear end gears. I don't need a granny low but would like my new tranny to have a lower ist gear. Also are these transmission tuff enough for normal 4 wheeling and driving it daily on the road? I have an opportunity to purchase a 1992 T-5 all set up for a Bronco including the clutch pressure plate and flywheel for $750.00 can you tell me if that is a good buy? It has the proper adapter for the dana 20 transfer case. I look forward to hear from you all soon. Thank You So Much Gary

most on here will tell you to pass on a t5 for a bronco, might wounder why he is selling it in the first place...
the best all around 5 speed tran for a bronco with almost no modifications is the NV3550 ... do a search and you will learn why... or a ZF and then a NV4500...

NV3550 V.S (stock 3-speed for comparison)
1 st 4.01------ 2.99
2 nd 2.32------ 1.77
3 rd 1.40------ 1.00
4 th 1.00------
5 th 0.78------
rev 3.57
The weight is 97 pounds, which is only about 15 pound more than the stock three speed

T5's are junk and are expensive. Go with a 3550, then try searching on it as this topic has come up a few times.

I was thinking the same thing on swaping a t5. you can find a mustag that was hit in the rear w/ low miles for around $700. i might be going w/ the nv

The T5 gear ratios are no better than stock except you get a OD
1st 2.95
2nd 1.94
3rd 1.34
4th 1.00
5th .68
I'd pass it up they are not strong enough they barely live behind mustangs they only have a 305 ft lb torque rating put a t case behind one and put it in 4 lo and theres a good chance it will go south on you. I'm sure it will work if your real careful. But why chance it? I dont think Advance Adapters even makes the adapters for them anymore. Might be better off with a toploader OD if your looking for something cheap with a OD and slight better first gear,

Don't worry about the 300 ft lb rating on the nv3550 if you see it. This is at 7200GVW. It is a great tranny even for a warmed over engine.
