I bought a 23 gal. NWMP gas tank from someone a few months ago. The tank had never been used, but it was a little rusty on the inside. I took care of the rust problem, but when I had the floating level sensor removed I noticed the tank didn't have a fuel sender in it. There was just a tube running from the bottom of the tank through the tank wall and terminated about 1.5 inches from the outside of the tank wall. Right now I have the mechanical pump on the engine block. Will I need another pump (electric) at the tank? Was this an earlier version NWMP tank that didn't include a fuel sender? I know I can make this work, but I just want to do it right before I get everything put back together. The pic shows the one electrical termination for the float sensor, two smaller return lines, the main filler neck, and vent line.

Maybe its me, but I dont think I know what you mean. The pick up tube is on the front of the tank faces the front of the veh, the 2 tube next to the filler is for Evap can lines. the mech pump at the motor will work fine. hope this helps. :p

I apologize if I was not clear before.

Basically what it comes down to is... I don't have a fuel sender in the tank. The tube on the front of the tank is for the fuel suction but there isn't a fuel sender like the stock tank has. Will the mechanical pump at the engine be enough or should I put an electric pump closer to the tank?

I've never looked at my Bronco tank to be certain, but I would assume the way it works is similar to my '65 Mustang. Like this:

You've got the fuel level sender(the float), and then you have the output tube that goes to the bottom of the tank. Right? Then you have a couple of extra nipples on the tank, for return/evap etc. Then the filler neck input of course.

The way I see it is, that if you only use a carburetor then all you need is a rubber line to the output tube. You shouldn't need a feeder pump, I wouldn't think. Just put a rubber cap on the other nipples and clamp 'em down so they don't leak. Make sure you use a vented gas cap as well.

This tank is probably made so that you could use either a carburetor, or EFI.

Am I right??
