Is there anything special about the GT40 lower intake off a 93 Lightning? Would I be able to use this with a 5.0 GT40 upper on a 351 and still fit under a stock hood.
Yes, any GT40 upper will bolt up. Fitting under a stock hood.....I've heard both yes and no. I think it really depends on your motor mounts, and the condition of your body mounts. I'll find out soon once the longblock is assembled.
No there not 'special' at all, in fact you had better box it up and send it to me, I'll store it here for you so your not tempted to use it...:-X... Those things are pretty hard to find, if you've got one hold on to it. Unless of coarse you feel like sending it to me.
Nothing "special" like the others said. With that lower intake you can run the following upper intakes of your choice:
- GT-40 tubular
- Cobra
- Explorer
I have one on my 351W and use the Cobra upper. It would be a tough fit with a stock hood but might fit.
I have mine with a 3/8 spacer between the upper and lower, a 1" body lift and the Proflow hood. It does rise above the cowl by about an inch. I can attach a pic when I get home from work.
