351c power steering pump

I have factory PS brackets for my 351c, a couple different styles actually, but nothing will fit. old style pump, new style ford pump...the pulley always hits the steering box right where the lines come out of the top.
it's drivin me crazy! I can make my own stuff if it comes down to it (need to make it higher up, and closer to the water pump)...but to tell the truth I really don't feel like it. I'm busy helpin neighbors and friends, so I don't seem to have any energy left for myself! %)
pics would be greatly appreciated

The best fitting brackets are the March aluminum. They are for a saginaw pump which is a big plus.
I originally had brackets from a 1972 cougar, and they fit ok, clearance was tight by the box if I remember right though, but still fit.
Another option is a bracket off a late 70's land yatch, LTD or similar with a 351m or 400. I used that setup for years, it lets you use a saginaw pump also. Heres a pic of it:

a guy at "Truckford Parts" in denver said that Napa makes a bracket to retrofit a saginaw pump. I'm gonna check in to that. if not, I'm debating spending money on akit from one of our beloved bronco vendors.
I dabbled a bit with making my own brackets to connect the stock pump with original brackets from the 302. it would work, but wouldn't look as nice as stock stuff

here are some pictures of a 400 with stock 400 brackets. I also had problems with the pulley / steering gear. I slotted a hole and moved another and was able to lift the pump up.

you ever have one of those moments where you think, "am I just stupid or what?":p
I'm sittin here tryin to reinvent the wheel, and all I need to do is relocate the bottom hole on the bracket so that it's angled up higher. I was overthinkin this problem quite a bit.
and so... uh... yeah I'll have this pump problem resolved as soon as I find a spare hour of time to fiddle in the garage.

this is example #326 why I love this site:) If I ever meet y'all, beer's on me!

DT, do you have a photo of your March pulley set up? I'm leaning that direction during my restoration. Had used an LTD type bracket with relocated pivot hole. Worked OK for 25 years.

I cut pieces off of one bracket to add to the one I'm gonna use. got it all welded and it fits great. rebuilt my pump while I was at it, and had to switch to a pulley with a deeper dish too. I still need to fab something to brace it to the head cuz it comes nowhere near lining up. but that should be fairly simple too

I dont seem to have any pics of when I had them on my 351c in the bronco, but here is a picture from March's website. I still have the engine with the brackets and pulleys, but its in a 1956 F100 right now.

Anyone happen to know where I can find a bracket that will work? March is out of my price range.

Thanks

Grill, what is March asking for their power steering pump bracket? I had planned on a late style pump upgrade, with bracket that located the pump similar to OEM, 302 position.

If March is unreasonable, I may do CAD layout and have a bracket either cut by water jet or plasma burned. If low carbon steel, should be < $100

I have the 4V right now and I'm lacking low end torque at low RPM. thinking aussie heads are the way to go.
