I'm debating on stepping up to the 39.5 IROC. Currently running the 38.5 SX and have absolutely no complaints other then wish I had just a little more ground clearance. The SX is an awesome tire with nearly bullet proof sidewalls and nice "sidebites" which the IROC is lacking. I'm curious how the IROC compares on slippery muddy rocks and slick rock surfaces such as this.....

Not what you really asked but if you are interested in clearance look at some of the 40" tires that are out-(if you can clear them on your eb w/o much work....) For reference, my half worn out 39Krawlers are about 37.5-38 aired down. The Maxxis 40" tires are about 38.5-39 aired down. The sidewall issue comes into play but something to consider-there are usually "decent deals" on pirate for used 40's.................

thats a tough one. i've seen IROKs outperform sx's and sx's outperform IROKs. If interested i know where a set of 39" Iroks with 5 trips and never driven on road are for sale, $400.00

Shoot me the info. The only reason I mentioned the irocs is that there is a set here locally, but not that good of a deal. Not opposed to 40's either, just don't have my 60 put together yet and trying to be nice to my 44;D

Just me, I have seen IROKS and SX's used quite a bit. At Katemcy the IROKS are awesome tires, they flex well and stick like glue to the rocks. SX's at Katemcy do really well, but thier toughness causes them to not flex as well (unless you can run single digit tire pressures)

The IROKs were not the best in Hot Springs this past Sep, and they were horrible on a buddies Yota in the mud.

The SX to me is the best all around tire, they are the tougher tire, but still grip well and will last, the IROKs wear really fast becasue of their added grip, so it is an endless cycle :). I am running Boggers simply because I make trips to La to play in the real mud and the Boggers are king there for sure. I will sacrafice some side grip for the mud performance.

Ok, there is my $.03

I run 5psi F&R. The terrain is very brutal with broken off stobs and sharp rock. Sidewall is just as important as tread surface.
