I am about to emark on the most expensive set of tires I have ever bought.
40 MTR's $390 apiece
39.5 IROC's $230 apiece (bias)

What makes the MTR's $160 price difference worth it?

I am going to run 17x9 wheels with www.rockbuggysupply.com weld in beadlock rings.

I was all set on the MTR's until lookin the last few days at the IROC's and how much everyone is talking them up.

So lets have it!!!

I bet the radial version of the Irok would be closer in price to the MTR radial. I think the biggest difference would probably be the better on-road quietness and lower vibration of the radial. So if its primarily a trail rig I would probably opt for the Irok bias ply, which seems to be a good tough tire that a lot of folks who run them think highly of. If you drive it on the street a lot you might give more weight to the MTR but still that's a big price difference so it still may not be worth it. A lot of folks daily drive with the Iroks and don't seem to complain about them the way you usually hear about other Interco bias ply tires when used on the highway. I was ready to buy a set of the 39.5 Iroks myself because of the much better price but I got a great hookup on some MTR 40's that was too good to pass up. Still haven't installed them though.

Whatever you choose, welcome to the Big Meat Club.

Mine aren't quite that big but so far the 37" Irok radials I put on to replace my 35" BFG Mud Terrains have proven to do exceptionally well off road in comparison. I paid about $50 more for each tire to get the radials. They do make more noise on the road than the BFG's but not as much as most other Interco tires I've had a chance to listen to.

I would agree that if money is no option and you drive on the street a lot, the MTR's are your choice. The radial IROK's are really nice and aren't that much more than the bias ply....not in comparison to the 40" MTR
