I have a 66 with the original 170 cu in 6 cyl. I am putting a Windsor in it. Anybody got any ideas what I should do with the old engine. Is it worth anything. Also anybody tell me what the best bet is on replacing the Dana 30 front end with the 44. (where do I get one). Also... I will be removing so many of the original 1966 parts.. seems like somebody somewhere would want some of them as I am building it to drive every day not necessarily worried about keeping anything original. There is an endless amount of original parts that I don't want or need that are hard to find... What do I do with them... Thoughts?

I gave my 6 away but you can probably trade for some of the things you need. There is a demand for certain stock 66 parts.

The 170 is going to be a hard sell unless it is unmolested and you find someone doing an original build that wants one that hasn't been rebuilt to work with. That includes the Bronco and a few other Ford cars like the Mustang, Falcon, etc. You will likely only get $100 for it though.

For the D44 where are you located? You will have to find a Bronco specific D44. There are plenty of trucks that have been parted so shouldn't be too hard to find one. What kind of build are you planning? Unless you are going to run big tires and thrash on it the D30 will hold up just fine.

As far as the rest of the parts you will have left over you can post them up in the classifieds here. If they have any value sell them, if you just want to avoid throwing a good factory part in the trash then offer them up for free and let the buyer pay the shipping. Some of the '66 parts are oddballs and may have a little value as they are harder to find. There is also Ebay but I would try to avoid that.

Well... I plan to put a stroker kit in a 351w to 408 cu in with the 5 speed manual and 35" tires. It will have a lot of torque and with the tires size im a little nervous about the 30... I have no problem with the 9" in the back. Im Not far from St. Louis in Illinois and I am doing a Frame Off Restore. Building it from the Ground up.

Nice. Yeah sounds like you need a D44. The D30 would hold up if it is just a mall crawler but a couple of off road excursions would probably make it self destruct.

With that power plant I would skip the 9" and 44 go straight to 60s with 35 spline axles.

Welcome. Just a couple of things. Any build is not official or even recognized without pictures. Guys on this site love pictures. Pay the money to become a contributor, and you will not only be supporting the site, but you will then be able to post pics. I am also doing a 66 resto/mod, and yes, many 66 parts are sought after.....

Either of you have the original 4X4 shift boot in decent shape out of your 66 that you would sell me?

The engine is a hard sell. However some of the parts on it sell quickly on E-bay. A working carb and good exhaust manifold, will often bring more than a complete engine. Especially to Mustang people. The 6cyl tranny adapter and intermediate shaft will sell when you can't even give away the tranny.
