'67 Doors - No Key Lock Hole?

I posted some '66-'67 doors in the classifieds here that generated a few tech questions and comments, so I'm posting details here.

The doors came from south Texas. I bought a '66 frame and a '67 rolling body from a guy, and he had these too. Not sure if the doors originally came on a vehicle that he had or if he had sourced them elsewhere.

Anyway, the passenger door doesn't have a key lock hole, and looking inside of it, it doesn't appear that there ever was one there. Would it have been this way from the factory?

Also, someone noted that these were '67 doors, not '66 doors. How does one tell the difference?

Thanks

Scott

From what I remember (but could be wrong) the passs door did not always have a key. I am not sure about that but I have seen others without a key hole as well. 66 and 67 should be the same if early correct?

In '66 the door lock cylinder is closer to the body line. Ford moved it up closer to the door handle in '67 to make room for the belt line trim. Also, the interior door actuator handle shown (along with the window crank handle) is held in place with a lock spring in '66. In '67 they are attached with a machine screw.

Every 66' I've owned, the door handles and window cranks were held by machine screws.

In 66' the passenger door keyhole was a delete option, I suppose it was in 67' as well.

Maybe and early vs. late change?

Not sure, something to look at I guess. Every 66 I've owned was a September or October 65' build. I thought the Mustangs had the clips and broncos got the set screws.
