seems i found the right place to get some questions out of the way. im purchasing a 69 bronco today and im making a list of the parts i need to order so far. Basically its a 69 with a converted half cab, has 302 3spd on the floor, 3.5" rancho lift, power steering, a 76 d44 with discs. and is a good runner no rust.

My plan is to make this as much of a daily driver as possible with same size lift and running on 35"s. I want an old school look with sleeper offroad mentality.

anywho ordering long arms, gonna convert to hydroboost, stonecrusher steering to start. I want the driveability done first and foremost.

my first questions are how to fit the 35"s best. I want to cut the front fenders and do it nicely. I was gonna order the warflares but looking at it now when i paint it later on the flares wont have the look i want and can only be achieved by trimming them done nicely. I dont mind ordering a 1" body lift but thats as much as i want to go. Any suggestions ????

heres a pic of what im starting with

Hydroboost is a great upgrade!

Not sure youll want heim steering. Heims steering was great when heims were introduced but i believe there not used much on steering anymore. I recommend the GM 1 ton steering instead. Heim steering is old school in my book.

How big are them tires in the pic??

The wild horses 1" body mounts are a great purchase. These are just taller body bushings that dont stack blocks. 1" BL helps with working on things under there also. Im just not a fan of bolt on flares! Too heepish to me. Maybe if there painted but never black!

You could get glass fenders for the front. They come in stock or with a larger cutout and wider flare than stock. Looks factory but with the benifits of flares. You probably dont want glass but just another option.

I thought about the gm1ton one also, but dont want to buy the tool to bore out, but yeah your right. Still like the placement of the heims and old school doesnt bother me. just want what will work well. What are the downsides ?

also yeah thats what ill get, i had seen that body lift without blocks is exactly what i wanted just didnt see it for some reason. It probably needs new body mounts anyways so thats perfect.

where are these flares or what brand ? i dont mind the fiberglass thats the look ill want instead of the warflares, cus the warflares are badass but not for the old school look i want.

Here's my '68, I'm running a 3.5" lift of mixed match parts, Wild Horses 1" body lift, Tom's progressive coils, James duff long arms, Bloody Knuckle garage front shock hoops, and I just recently put on the stone crusher steering (which uses heims). Not sure why people are fearful of heims, they're strong and allow lots of misalignment when your rig is flexed out. Price out a stone crusher steering setup compared to a GM 1 ton setup, pretty sure the heim joint setup will be cheaper. The photo of my Bronco is from last summer so my rig has changed just a little bit from here but still looks generally the same. I'm running 35x12.5 BFG All-terrains and it's a good daily driver / weekend wheeling rig. Fender flares are as old school as you get with Broncos in my opinion, especially fiberglass flares! I'm running Wild Horses Warflares and I love the look they give. I cut my fenders for the extreme position because I always planned on running 37s or 39.5 Iroks with the smallest amount of lift possible. I say run the fender flares and paint them if you want, but for a 3.5" suspension and 1" body the flares will help out and look good. Things to consider when upgrading your steering is to brace you frame, it'll make all the difference turning those 35's and save you from having to do serious frame repairs when you're out wheeling and crack your frame where the steering box mounts.

Thanks man, i already ordered the stonecrusher steering, but yeah need to look into the frame beef up at the steering box for sure. Im still leaning towards cutting them and no flares. but want to see the smooth fiberglass flares option when i paint. by that time i think i would have cut to much and will need the warflares if i do flares. lol
