Hi folks,

My 69 stock am radio still works......sort of. I am wondering if anyone knows of a reputable vintage radio repair shop that I could send it to to get it refurbished. The tuner works, the antenna is great, but it makes a lot of noise in between stations and I think it needs a 46 year check up. I am planning to replace the speaker as well with a retro sound stock replacement.

Your advice is most appreciated.

This is what I did, I sent my factory radio to www.turnswitch.com, they do radio repair, they also do radio conversions. I went the conversion route. Basically all the electronics are removed and replaced with modern electronics. My factory radio looks exactly the same as before but now it's AM/FM, has inputs for USB, stereo inputs, and Bluetooth. It's freaking awesome. I can even take phone calls through my radio. They also sell the proper ohm replacement speakers and they also have the correct fabric that covers the speaker between the grille. It was pricey and may not be what you want, but to me it was worth every penny. Give Greg at www.turnswictch.com a call or email, they are quick to respond.

Hose it down with some electrical cleaner. Pay special attention to the tuner and volume parts. You might be pleasantly surprised.
