This is my 1971 Ford Bronco Half Cab with VIN U14GLK12855. I purchased this Bronco back in 2016 here on the forum for $10,000. After driving it a few times, I decided to replace the worn out body mounts, which led to me removing the body, painting the frame, adding a lift kit, replacing the D30 drum brake front end with a D44 with disc brake front end, and on and on. Currently, the Bronco is in the state you see it in the last few pictures.
I do have the Marti Report which states it was sold new in Tallulah, LA. The original color was Prairie Yellow with a 3.50 limited slip rear axle and D30 locking front axle. The truck was also equipped with an oil bath air cleaner, AM radio, and free running front hubs. For that year, this one was 1 of 50 in this color, 1 of 39 with the paint/trim code, 1 of 927 with the 302/3 spd engine transmission combination, 1 of 77 ordered from DSO 64 (New Orleans), and 1 of 59 with the D30 locking front axle.
The Bronco does have some of the typical rust that we see on these. It will need outer rockers on the driver's and passenger's side at some point. The driver's floor pan will need to replaced. I started tearing the old floor up, but stopped to devote time to the frame, suspension, etc. The rear floor has surface rust, but nothing terrible. I have included some pictures of other rust spots as well.
There are a couple of spots at the rear of the frame by the fuel tank, which the previous owner didn't disclose, that has rotted through. This is on the underside of the frame and didn't seem to be a structural issue, so I left it untouched, but did want to disclose. I repaired the two body mounts at the rear under the tailgate as these were rusted through. I have a thread on here showing the work done. After the body mounts, I used Rust Bullet on the frame to coat.
The front diff was upgraded to a Dana 44 with disc brakes from a 1976 Bronco. It has rebuilt calipers from Napa, new brake lines, master cylinder, and proportioning valve from Toms's. The brakes have not been bled since the brakes were upgraded. I also installed new ball joints from Napa and "C" bushings from Duff's. At this time, an adjustable track rod from Wild Horses. Also, D20 transfer case has new bushings and output seal.
I installed a 2.5" lift from Wild Horses with new shocks and rear springs with the 6 degree shims. The lift necessitated a longer driveshaft which I got from Duff's. The front driveshaft is not currently installed, but does come with the Bronco.
The core/body mount under the battery tray was rusted out and this is currently where I'm at. I remove the mount braces and the rusted metal on the inner fender well. I have the metal and new braces to be welded in, I just haven't found the time for it.
The only item that has been replaced on the 302 are the valve cover gaskets and an oil change. It ran really good so I saw no need to mess with it. I do have some new motor mounts from Napa which I'll include. It doesn't need them, I was just going to change them out.
I will include some Ford aluminum slot wheels I purchased from a fellow forum member and all parts that I took off to upgrade. I have both the 15" white spoke wheels (these hold air well) you see in the first pictures as well as the 16" spoke wheels the Bronco currently sits on.
I am currently at a time in my life where I can't find time for it and don't foresee any time to devote to restoring it. I know it's hard to sell a Bronco that is half put together, but it is what it is. There is no reason the Bronco shouldn't run and drive once you get it roadworthy as it was running and driving when I opened the can or worms. I have the doors which have no rot, the top which has surface rust, but no rot, the hood, and the grille.
I am selling for $10,000.00 firm which is what I paid for it and just giving you the upgrades. If you need more pictures, let me know. If you are interested, message me and I'll give you my cell number to discuss further.
