My 67 was my first bronco and has served me really well over the last 13+years. So it time for some upgrades. This is the back story behind this truck.
I have always been a Ford guy. I got a 67 mustang when I was 20, had that for a while but was always more of a truck guy. Sold that and picked up a 68 F250 4X4 High boy. Restored that and really liked it but wanted to get into off roading. The F250 was too big and awkward for wheeling so I sold that. Didn't want a Jeep like everyone else so I started looking for a early bronco. I looked for about 6 months and found one in a local sale paper. I believe it was January or February of 2005. It was owned by a guy that was in the Airforce he was stationed in Dover, DE. He was form Oregon and had the truck shipped out east. I went and looked at the truck it was all there, but ran like crap, Had a crushed passenger fender, no real rust, and a bunch of new in the box parts so I got it. Turned out the engine ran like crap because the plug wires were on the wrong plugs! I paid $2,200 for the bronco. Over the next 2 years I put new wheels tires, paint job, Rebuilt the motor and a bunch of other work into the truck. I wheeled it when ever I could at Rausch Creek, Gore, and a private location in Delaware. I drove it on weekends and nice days as much as I could.Over the following years it has had a lot of other work done to it, I sawped in Power steering, a dana 44 with disc brakes, Powerbrakes, NP-435 trans, and tons of other odds and ends. I have bought and sold at least 8 other broncos since I got this truck. I updated the front springs and bushings a few years back and went up to 35" tires. I haven't wheeled the truck in about 6 years. I bought my company, had a kid, and moved in that time frame so life hasn't let me use or wheel the truck like I used to. Now its time for some love again. Below are a few pics from when I got it and me wheeling it a Rausch Creek.

So the suspension on this truck has been pieced together over the years. It used to be a Rancho 3.5" lift, it was like riding with no springs! It now has TBP 3.5 progressive front coils, the rear are 77 springs with a add a leaf and a block. The shocks are OLD Rancho 5000. The bushings are all good. The ride is soft, she really lays over in the turns. I liked this set up for wheeling but it is not great on the street. She also has a bad case of the bronco lean, she leans to the passenger side about an inch. I have a brand new WH 3.5" lift with Billstein shocks. I hope the new springs and properly installed c bushings will correct the lean and frim up the ride a little. I will be installing the lift as the first up date.

The top is a STC top that was new when I got the truck. It is shot. I have a brand new Rampage diamond black top for it.

The truck had some paint damage from a storm were a bungey that was holding the car cover on it scraped up the passenger rocker, along with some trail damage over the years. I hope to touch up the areas that need it. A full repaint is not going to happen. This paint job was never show quality, it was built as a wheeler/ cruiser not a show queen.

I also have a bunch of small parts like center console, new radio, and maybe a family cage that I will try to put on the truck over the winter. A lot depends on how much time I can devote to the truck. Since I got my 70 back on the road I am not afraid of tearing into this bronco.

I may upgrade some other things as I go along, most of the parts are things I have bought or collected over the years and never installed. I dont want to spend too much on it as I am planning some upgrades for the 70 I have. But this truck deserves some love never left me stranded on the trial and didn't make it home under its own power only one time (a bad set of points welded). Below are some other more recent shots of it.

That's cool. Keep it up. Hopefully, one day I can do some upgrades to "Bertha", too!

The color is Shenandoah Green. It was not a stock bronco color, it a was used on the early 70s Ford full size trucks. The bronco originally was Red but had been painted a similar color green when I got it. I tried to find an exact match for the color that ws on it but didn't have any luck this was the closest I could find.

Finally got to work on installing the lift put the new rear springs and shocks on. Funny the truck had a 3.5 lift before and I am installing a 3.5" lift now but the rear drive shaft is now too short! It is about 1/4" short of fitting. So I just ordered an new shaft from WH. I hope to start on the front lift on Friday. I will try to post up some pics in a few.

Ok got some picks of the before and after with the new rear springs. New drive shaft is on its way. This was a Wild Horses 3.5" lift with Billstiien Shocks and the heavy duty spring mounting plates (look at the side by side with the stock plates!). Everything fit as it should so far. I didnt have a chance to do the front end yet.(dam work!) I am busy at work the first half of this week. Maybe Thursday or Friday I can mess with it. Doesn't look like I will have it back together in time for a car shown I am going to on Sunday. So I will take my 70. I need to clean it up it has 3 months of Shop dust and few nights of bug guts all over it!

So my work was closed on Black Friday. So I got a few hours to work on my 67. Put the front lift in, I really took my time with the radius arms to make sure they were even. Got them within an 1/8". That's as good as I could get it with out driving myself even more crazy. Everything went together smooth. The old lift had 4 deg bushings and this kit came with 7 deg. Put the shocks on dropped it to the ground and she sits pretty level. The passenger side rear is about 1/2" lower than the rest of the truck but that could be from the 35" spare hanging on that side. It looks a lot more level than it was before. pulled it out of the shop and realized I will need to get the caster/steering re aligned, the tires are towed way to far in. Took it for a quick ride and WOW what a diferance!!!! I rides a 10,000 times better than before.

I would highly recommend the Wild Horses 3.5" lift with Bilstein Shocks. I am looking forward to getting the steering straight and putting so miles on it. I will update with some pics on Monday.

So I had the truck alinged and took it for another quick ride and it rides great. That was just after Thanksgiving. Then Christmas happened, weather got crappy, work got busy, so the bronco has sat. Over the last week I finally started putting the new Rampage top on the truck. What a pain in the ass!! I have put two Rampage tops on before and they fit pretty good, this one has given me a fit. Seems like it is crooked, I am spending a lot of time on getting the door brackets lined up and making the brackets to support the door frame, my truck already has holes drilled but they are no even close to working with this top. Only bad thing is its getting cold so I may not be able to do the final fitting of the top until it warms up or at least gets sunny. I will post up some pics of the brackets once I get everything lined up.
