Aftermarket Oil Pan Clearance Issue

I'm installing a new aftermarket oil pan as my last one was rusted to high hell. I can get it up in there, but the motor mounts contact the lips of the pan.

I'm inclined to just grind down the edges of the pan about an 1/8" so it will clear and fit up in there. I'm not sure loosening the motor mounts would do any good unless I could lift the engine which I don't have an engine lift.

Will grinding the edges of the oil pan some cause leaks? Does anyone know? I would of course cut into as little as possible of the mating surface, but the mating surface on the aftermarket pan is thicker than the OEM one, hence why it won't fit back up in there.

I had the same problem, for a slightly different reason - my replacement motor mounts were larger than my originals. I ground down the motor mounts.

Mtr mounts for sure- here's why. Grinding the raised lip off the oil pan weakens it's ability to not bend/distort when you torque it.

Thanks the reasoning, really appreciate it! I did end up grinding the pan as I didn't get feedback quickly enough, but a 1 piece fel-pro seal in and all seems to not be leaking... see how it holds... shame if it ends up leaking and having to replace, but such is life. If I replace it I'll go back and grind the mounts.
