another cooling issue

I am looking for some fan shroud advice or cooling advice. I have a stock radiator (new), 302 with explorer serpentine conversation, 1 in body lift and A/C, 180 thermostat. I currently have an electric fan and I do not think it will be able to keep up wit the Texas heat. The bronco will idle for long periods at 190, but once you start driving it quickly shoots to 210 and keeps climbing.

I have a new water pump, new radiator, new hoses, new thermostat, have burped the air out. I have only driven the bronco around the block with top speeds of 30-35mph as I am working out the bugs.

I have the fan from the explorer set up (not installed) and based on the post I have read it appears I should use the explorer fan. What I have not found is what is the best fan shroud? Should I go with a stock shroud and modify as in the tech article for the explorer set up? Metal shroud? Ron Davis Full shroud?

Do all of these require modifications to work properly? Should I be looking at other options?

I would use the Explorer fan, they seem to work very well. Be sure you get a new fan clutch before you install it. You should be able to use the stock shroud with the modifications.

I run the exploder fan and a ron davis full shroud, I had to make some mounts for the shroud it was kinda a pain getting the fan centered in the shroud but im kinda anal about things like that so..

Thanks for the responses. Why did you go with the ron davis? does it need the extension mods like the stock shroud needs?

I do not mind spending the coin if it resolves the problem but don't want to spend over double only to find out I need to make mods to get it to work properly.

I guess Texas is a lot hotter than Georgia but I ran mine for 12 plus years with no fan shroud as a daily driver year around and never had any cooling issues with a stock radiator and a flex fan. Are you sure everything is working like it is supposed to? Water pump is good, right amount of coolant, radiator core is clean, good thermostat... Maybe it is just the electric fan not having enough CFMs.

I have heard nothing but good things from the explorer fan setup so if it will fit I would go with that. If not maybe theTarus Electric fan.

Not sure if Texas is any hotter than Georgia. And sure, I could have an issue with any of the components in the cooling system. New radiator, new water pump, full of coolant, new thermostat. Cools fine at idle.... electric fan could be the issue which is why I am looking for fan shroud suggestions. The fan is a 17" and pulls 2400cfms Derale Cooling Products 16217 -
