Anyone convert to rear coil springs?

I am rebuilding my 75 EB and also have a 95 Land Rover Discovery and was wondering if anyone has converted their early Bronco to rear coil springs.
I made some rough measurements and it looks as though the rear three point Land Rover suspension could be adapted to the Bronco. Even with the body off it may be quiet a job but should result in a softer ride with more articulation.
What do you guys think? Stephen

I did. I think it work awsome. The best part is its really easy to change the springs if you a want stiffer or softer ride.

couldn't you.....now this is just me thinking out loud.......take the front part of the frame, and spin it around and weld to the back of another frame? It should work, the only problem would be strengthing the joint between the two frame. it is just an idea. thats all.

Why not adapt front radius arms with brackets to the rear? That would be extremely strong and all the parts are probably lying around your house (if you're anything like me you have extra radius arms around). Then fab your own panhard bar and you're set. I think that would be a little easier....maybe?

The radius arm idea for the rear would work, but you won't get a lot of flex with that suspension enless you do a wristed arm or something like that. I would imagine if you put a wristed arm in the rear it would not behave too well. Imagine going up a hill and the side of your rear axle with the wristed arm just buckling and losing traction. You would get very bad axle wrap which would destroy ujoints

Mx has the right approach to this . The modified 4 link and coils is alot more flexible than the stock front configuration on the rear . I have seen it and it just doesn't work (even with extended radius arms) .

A multilink rear w/coils is the way to go. You need to do a good deal of research so you don't bugger it up. The angles and lengths of the links in relation to each other will dramaticaly affect the handling. Not hard to do right, but real easy to do wrong.

There is a guy.........i believe his name is Lee Novikov, he did it only it is three link, it is a really cool design. There used to be pics posted at www.lonestar-ebc.com, but it says under construction now. Maybe somebody else has the pics. If you can find them though i would say his design is about the best ive seen.
