Anyone used an Auto transporter?

American Auto Transport is who I used when moving my most recent truck. Keep in mind that most of them are brokerages and will give you estimates. They seem to give prices hoping they can get a carrier to haul for the cost they quoted. I had them come back with two increases after the quote was given.

All brokers access a common database on open hauls. A broker you are working with will put your haul and a price into the database and post it for a guy with a truck to accept it. Sometimes it gets picked up quickly, sometimes it takes longer and requires you to raise the price you are willing to pay to attract a driver. It does not do any good to use more than one broker as they will all post your haul in the database. This process works to get stuff moved, but can be a crap shoot as to the quality of the driver, company and equipment that picks up your car. I had too many bad experiences using broker so now prefer to work directly with the company that owns the equipment and employs the drivers.

I used DAS for shipping a Bronco from Tx to Ca. www.dasautoshippers.com/

First quote is never correct, lifted and big tires will increase price. If it fits inside an enclosed trailer, that adds to the price. But protects it from the weather, road rocks, etc.
Overall I was happy with the shipper, not happy with the Seller. A few things he failed to disclose on the sale, but that is another story... I picked up the Bronco at their home Depo in Oakland, which saved me a few more $$$.

I use Quality Driveaway. They have a home base here in my town and haul alot of RV's (rv capital of the world) across the country. They also have 4-5 other bases across the country. They have always given me great prices on hauling and are punctual. HTH

I had a hell of a time finding someone to haul mine in from Missouri because of the lift and tires. Intercity wouldn't touch it as well as most others. Dealt with a broker who found an independent with a flat bed and finally got it to me and at a very reasonable price.
Most say don't go broker but this guy seamed to bend over backwards to help me out. I won't hesitate to use him again.

I know me and a guy from Berwyn used Webster Relocation Services.

Cost 500 (100 to Webster Broker 400 COD to the driver) from CO to IL. Open flatbed. They may have sourced out Quality Driveaway but I can't be sure because the driver was an RV hauler from IN.

One of the few moments as an adult I felt like a kid at Christmas.

I used uship.com one time to haul a vehicle from Alabama to Texas. It went smooth. Its a little scary as I've heard of cars disappearing possibly to mexico. It was a very stressful day and a half...

I used Thomas Sunday and they were very professional. Car arrived in perfect order and on time. I would recommend them but I do not know if they have the capacity for a lifted rig.

They are almost all brokers. Who will quote you a lowball price to get you to sign up
And promise they get cars picked up in 7 days etc
It's a load of crap

It will take several weeks and they will always call back wantin more money
I cant think of an industry that's made up of scummier people than auto haulers and brokers
They make used car salesmen and politicians look like saints

The broker will keep 20% off the top for doing nothing more than answering the phone and listing it on a website Central Dispatch which is like a private Uship

They will want that 20% up front
When some driver or company finally decides to haul your car they will call back and want more $$
And most of the drivers are Russians who demand to be paid in cash when they arrive So they don't have to pay any income tax

Good luck.
In November I bought a pickup in AZ and needed it shipped to GA

I had it listed with a company called Stateway that claims in their ad that they own their trucks
but it was a lie
And they won't answer the phone
They only time they will call you back is when you leave a message cancelling your order

I had it listed for two weeks with Stateway who claimed they owned their own trucks No luck at $800 from AZ to ga and it was like 20 minutes from I-40 in AZ

I finally found someone in the "hauling" section on Pirate4x4 to do it

I didn't bother having anyone look at the truck since it "runs good 4WD works great" and was only $1600

Get someone to go look at it
The seller will always be a liar
Truck barely ran, had no brakes Toasted spindles shredded locking hubs
Busted heater core
Rotten tires etc etc

" I paid $1800 a couple of years ago ,selling it to you for $1600"
When cleaning out the truck I found the bill of sale where he paid $1200 three weeks earlier

Only thing that wasn't lie was No Rust
Not a speck

A very good friend of mine is a car hauler. He has a brand new Chevy HD and 38 foot enclosed, raised roof trailer. He would probably give you a great deal and is reliable and safe. Give him a call at 720-299-9911. His name is James. Tell him Jason sent you.

I just used DAS recently. Paid for what they quoted. 69 with minor lift and 31s so that did not matter to them.

It did take an additional week than promised, but that was over Xmas holidays as well.

$1300 fro California to Florida.

Only problem I've had is drop off, they want to drop at walmart downtown as it's easier than on my street they say they can't get down, right...... Luckily it made it home.

I used PDQ Auto Movers last year to move my truck for CT to NC. I called on 12/24 and said I'd like the move done after the holidays. My truck did not run, has 35s and was sitting in 8 inches of snow. They picked up the Bronco on 1/3 with an enclosed trailer and I got it on 1/4. The driver even helped me push the truck into my garage.

I paid cash to the broker as quoted, but had let them know about the lift and not running condition before shipping. They use brokers like everyone else, but I had a great experience.

If the guy did body work he'd still be here.
