AOD and J-shift (twin stick?)

I am having an AOD installed in my 77 next week and all of the sites say that the J-shift "takes some ingenuity" to work with the advance adapter. Even advance adapters says they are not able to say what needs to be changed. I would like to twin stick it if possible at the same time and WH says it makes the problem worse and others say it is easier. I have seen AOD twin stick pics on here but it doesn't say if it is J or T shift. Any info and pics that I can give my tranny guy to make this easier are much appreciated!!!

I have an aod with twin stick from wild horses. I had to lengthen the shift rods by about an inch. Just welded on rod in the same diameter. Pretty easy.

I have a AOD in my 75 Sport. The WH twin sticks bolted up fine, but I had to do some heating and bending to get the tips (below pivot point) to work properly within the shifter rails. Then I had to heat and bend the handles (above pivot point), so that there was enough clearance between the two. Then repaint everything. It was a slow process... Hope this helps.

I also run an AOD --- and Duff twin sticks with a J-shift pattern transfer case. Had to heat and bend each shifter rod to fit the J-case shift rails. It was not hard at all, just a little trial fit and heat to get it right.

Good Luck

Thanks guys. I bought the Tom's Twin Stick kit with the AA and the custom crossmember. My tranny guy said he could get the crossmember modified but I am trying to make this as easy on him as possible. He is building the tranny, installing it with all mods, and re-routing my exhaust for $1000.00. He is really doing me a favor!
