I finally finished the assembly of my AOD (4r70w internals and shift kit) and got adapter notched, installed trans and TC to frame and checked against tub. I am going with a 2 inch Body lift and now have the measurement for the TC to frame location.

I noticed some use a single attachment point from the driver side of the TC to the top of the frame, where the 3 bolts go. I can not see a way to get a cross member from the extension housing to the frame, got front drive shaft and shifter on the way.
I am considering a cross member on the back of the TC attaching to the rear cover bolts at 4 spots, going across over the frame, and sandwich a poly bushing to absorb vibration.

Am I over doing it? will the single attachment on the driver side of the 205 be enough??

Please advise, pictures are appreciated;D

back when I had a few AOD's. I hope it helps. Dont built the crossmember one piece like I did. I later changed to a two piece / easy to remove design. looks the same but has a different connection at the attachment point on the passenger side. You may want to do this if you change the AOD's as much as I did. my c6 is turning the 37's over going into second. The AOD's did not like that. Also in the first picture I was trying to lift the t case as high as I could. I ended up putting the mount between the 2 rubber donuts. about 5/8'' lower.

I found one pic so far that shows how I did the TC mount. Still looking for pics of the trans mount.

This trans mount isn't mine, but it is one that was shared with me when I was designing mine.

I am using a twin stick from JB Fab on the TC. I have it and it is a quality product.

I haven't gotten to the trans shifter yet. I want to use a tilt column with column shifter. I think the 78-79 F and E series columns are the ones I need, but haven't found one yet.

If I can't find an OEM column that I like, then I might go with one of the aftermarket tilt columns or use my original non-tilt column and a floor shifter. I would likely go with a Lokar floor shifter if I go that route.

I also want the column shifter, I saw a couple of late 70's trucks Saturday at the bone yard, I should have pulled one, I was looking for other things, i will take some measurements of the stock EB 3 speed manual column I have and compare at the bone yard next time.

I found a stock Ford shifter from a 78 f-100 on E-bay bought and it is on it;s way. Dual lever is cool, but for the desert running I will do stock shall be OK. I seldom use 4x4 or low of the ramcharger, the rear locker is enough, most baja racers are 2wd.
