ARB switches

How big are the switches for ARB air lockers? I have my dash out right now for some mods and thought I would make accommodations now for my future ARB's. I would prefer to do any drilling I need to do now before I paint the dash. Maybe I could get the switches now and get them installed so they are ready to go when I raise the funds for the lockers. I guess I need to look into this and see if the switches are sold by themselves or if they come with the lockers.

Mine came with the locker.

They use a Carling switch in the contura series. I believe I cut my holes .8 x 1.4" but I am sure you can get the exact hole size on their web site. Dont cut by my measurement....:p

x2 664a69er....never go back to a Detroit.

Bought my ARB for my Dana 44 back in '87.

Bought my ARB for my 9" back in '96 (1st gen). Replaced it 13 years later with an RD99 35 spline when I upgraded to ProNodular and 35spline axles. Hard to argue when neither has ever failed with heavy use...

BTW, several wheeling buddies have grenaded their Detroits...

good luck

Thanks for the info, I'm also planning on building a center console after my current project is completed. Looking at this more, I may end up mounting the switches in that. I built one for my 66 that holds the stereo so something similar would work for this. I need to get this all back together so I can see where my twin sticks will be before I start building anything.

Ransil, Thanks for the measurements. I need three switches for the lockers ( I think ) and I'll want at least one more for my Aux lights.

A third thought is to mount them behind the glove box door. Thats where my ECU and my Fuel shutoff switch go.

My .02... you want them easily accessible. You will find out that one of the great things about having ARB's is you will lock and unlock them often when on the trail.

I turn mine off and on by braille... in other words I just reach up to one of my switch banks above my A hoop and without looking can switch them off and on when needed. I have about 8 easily accessible switches mounted there.

I never thought about it like that. I guess the glove box idea is not such a good one after all.
