Can someone remind me: The front end of the auxillary gas tank straps are held in place by a bracket with 4 bolts, correct? It has been so long since I last did this I have lost that brain cell.

Thanks. hat is what I thought, but frankly I don't remember removing that bracket on my last aux tank replacement. But I must have! Weird.

That's the bracket alright. The bolts and captured nuts holding it are in a dirty and water-soaked position and prime candidates for stripping. Not being moved for 40 years does not help. But slow and careful with lots of Liquid Wrench does it. This was for the '76 which has not seen an off-the-frame resto like the Chariot.
