mine isnt anywhere near restored...ive put like $3000 in it so far. wanting to restore it, but not wanting to spend alot, might be hard, unless you have lots of conections and/or have lots of skills. just my opinion.

I have 12K in mine - with me doing the work. Still need another 2-3K worth of stuff.

It adds up. Consider I spent 2K on tires and wheels - 1.6K on paint, 1K on suspension and 1K on bumpers. Look at that, 5K without even thinking about it....

But everyone builds em differently - I just got carried away I guess.....

There is a big "It Depends" in this answer. I have 18k into mine and that was only $1000 paint job and I did all the work myself. That is motor, trans, suspension, gears, lockers, seats, Belts, Cage, bumpers, I have it all itemized on an excel spread sheet if you need it just pm me.

there are all levels of restorations,
to ME, to restore something to ORIGINAL condition is just as expensive as a custom built rig. what i am saying, is using correct, and NOS parts wherever available. this is harder to do than just order the repo parts from a 4x4 supplier.

i just got into a big debate with my dad, who is 'restoring' his 65 vette. he has owned it for nearly 30 years and driven it a lot. most of the parts have been replaced over time. he doesnt want to go the 'correct' restored way, due to the outragous price of these parts....but i told him, if he expects someone to pay top dollar for it later (which he does) then it will have to be done right...correct numbers, etc. in the world of collectors, mismatched and non standard year parts are not going to cut it.

Someone posted the other day a breakdown of man hours to repair the body you should look that up and multiply the areas you need restored by approx $65.00 per hour for body work, generally a decent paint job will cost you a minimum of $2000.00 plus paint, primer, clearcote. Rhino lining or another type rust preventative can run from $600.00 and up for a Bronco, then go through the Supplier catalogs for an idea of all the upgrades or replacement parts you need. This based on having it done for you and you searching out all the parts needed, if you leave this up to the specialist he will also charge you by the hour to find your parts. If you are handy and can do alot yourself you could get away with a resto for under $15,000.00 if not it'll go near or above $20,000.00 to have an expert do it for you. I am not an expert but I know enough about vehicles where to buy and search most parts or services and did so with my resto, although I can do many things I am not anal enough to do a primo job and contracted a good friend to do all of the body work and paint on my resto, I used only the best made products on mine and added more chrome than necessary as well as power steering, air conditioning, disc brakes, blah...blah....blah....I'm into mine for over $30,000.00 but if this truck were made today by Ford you could never buy it for what I have in it.

Consider just paint and new 33" tires. You're looking at 1K+ for tire and wheels. And around 2K for a good paint job around here. That's 3K+ and not even into major welding repair panel work, engine, trans, suspension, brakes, interior, all the little stuff that seems like it is 20 bucks here and there...it adds up real, real quick. You're better off getting one all done if you can IMHO.

I had about $20K to totally restore my '70 doing all the work myself including all the body and paint work. The only thing I didn't do is the short block 302 which I payed $1500. I replaced most 90% of the bolts with Stainless Steel. Being a '70 I also upgraded the dana 30 to a disc brake dana 44 which was $1K. Also added a Wild Horses 5 1/2" susp with the extended arms, front shock hoop, rear inboard hoop, 11pk rear spring, F&R WH drivelines, SS brakelines, ect. I'm sure it would have cost twice that if somebody else did the work. I ended up selling it for $16.5. The new owner put another $18k into it with billit tilt column, sound deadening and carpet, Howell fuel injection, rear disc, AOD, RD radiator, ect, ect. He sold it about a year later for $24.1K. There is no limit! but a stock restore is going to be around $12K doing the work yourself.

I'm doing a complete frame off. Taking my time and carefully shopping for parts. I'm 14K into the project. It will be well over 20K by the time I get it done. (Not a factory original restoration, but a great daily driver with some minor mods.) This is rebuilding everything in the driveline, all new suspension, brakes, lines, hoses, pumps, weather stripping, wiring, seals, tanks, and etc. :)

Saved a lot of time and money due to the folks on this site. One thing I learned is being in a hurry to get it done makes it cost a lot more. There is money to be saved in doing some research and parts shopping. Of course, I ended up rolling those savings into additional upgrades. :)

I am 7k into mine and I havnt got the body work done yet... :( . I am guessing I will be about 12k into it. I am having a guy do the suspension and frame swap. I am guessing(hoping) that mine should sell for around 15k once it is painted. I dont plan on selling it but I would like to know I could get my money back out of it.

I don't have a lot of money into mine but it isn't perfect either. I built a body and installed it onto a frame that had very little done to it. I sanded and ground the frame, painted with POR15 , installed new fuel and brake lines, new brakes, new shocks, new engine. Everything else is pretty much old ( bushings, springs, trans and transfer case never removed ). I paid a lot for a tub so I wouldn't have to spend the money for a bunch of sheetmetal. NEW Ford fenders, used grill, used doors, used interior. I'm guessing I have about $6000 into mine but I didn't have to pay anyone for labor. Damn, they add up fast

I have about 20k into mine and haven't even touched the body or motor!!! But I built my truck to be what I wanted it to be. Also I think it depends on where your are at in the country. Me there are few bronco guys around my area and used parts are a bastard to find around here. I also bought everything new for my truck except the tranny, and rear axle. The only thing I didn't do was build the axles for the truck. It all adds up really quick!!!

Like alot of the other guys, Im nowhere near done, and I have 7-8k in it. But this includes more than 3 grand for a new kentrol tub. Once the expensive stuff starts (paint, trim, wiring, etc) itll really get expensive. Probably end up costing me about 20k by the time its over with. As you might expect its going agonizingly slow tryin to do this while working min wage jobs mainly in the summer and still keeping my truck on the road.

Looks like you got your answers and they all seem to be around the same $20,000.00 plus for the most part. But, all I see is them go up in value and getting harder and harder to find.
